Percy Jackson & the Lighting Thief

It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson's Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they're not happy: Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy's mother. As Percy finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy's mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Overall, the storyline could have been more developed, but the effects were great.

The Korean singer Rain descended in Kaohsiung, causing the second-largest city in Taiwan to become paralyzed by a swarm of fans who came out to welcome him.

Rain arrived in the Taiwanese city on Thursday night for his performance, titled "Legend of Rainism."

Even though his arrival time was 10 p.m., some 500 fans gathered at the airport to see the Korean pop idol.

The airport pooled a number of security guards to maintain order, according to the JoongAng Ilbo Saturday.

A number of Taiwanese media outlets also dispatched reporters and TV crews to the scene.

Overall, the movie was entertaining and engaging. The fight scenes were nice! Although Wu Chun's character did sound funny....

Mulan

Based on the Chinese folk heroine Hua Mulan. When the country is threatened by invaders, a young girl defends her father by sneaking away from home and dressing up as a man to join an all-male army where she eventually assumes a historically critical role in defending the nation in a time of war.

Unlike its Disney animated counterpart, the ending isn't a happy one. The story started off slow, and the ending was not satisfactory. The scenery was nice, and the fighting scenes were realistic enough. The ending although a disappointment, shows the realism of life: not all people get their happy ending, having to put their country above themselves during that choatic period. If you can live with it, then this movie would be worth watching. But it's not a movie I would particularly recommend.
