Radio DJ Liang Xiao Shu (Annie Chen) is outgoing, straightforward, optimistic and a little drama queen at heart. After finding out her boyfriend of three months is cheating on her, she is devastated. By a chance encounter she meets Zhou Zhen (George Hu) who comes from a former gangster family that has decided to keep their hands clean. Zhou Zhen is gentle, gracious and upright, he encourages Xiao Shu and helps her to move on. Zhen becomes an employee at the radio station where Xiao Shu works by mistake and goes to great lengths to hide his true identity by impersonating a salesperson. Little does he know the seed of love has already begun to grow.
This was the song which caught my attention when I watched this drama - Love around. Prior to this, i had watched Love now and was looking forward to the main leads chemistry in this drama. The theme song was sang by this Korean-Taiwanese talented singer Bii and the title of the song is - I Know. Throughout the whole show, Bii Original soundtracks was played very often. Some people said that Bii songs was overplayed throughout the show, but I am not complaining that since I like Bii vocal. The main concern is the storyline of the show.
There was a lot of hypes circulating around the Golden Couple - George Hu and Annie Chen. In my opinion, there was a lack of renowned onscreen Golden Couple in Taiwanese Idol drama for a long period of time. A few years ago, Taiwanese Idol drama was popular. Rising stars such as Rainie Yang, Mike He, Joseph Cheng and Ariel Lin used to appear onscreen as Golden couples. Recently, the throne of Golden couple were passed down to George Hu and Annie Chen.
Admittedly, both of them look really good together and their onscreen chemistry is strong. However, I personally felt that they are lacking in the acting department. Actually, this two eye candies tries hard to convince the viewers that they are a loving couple in the drama. However, the storyline felt too rush, as though the scriptwriter wanted to bank in on the couple chemistry to raise viewerships. Yes, there was a number of cute and romantic scene between the two lovebirds but they failed to portray the process of budding love. Perhaps, they are too comfortable with each other or they just needed time to gain acting experience.
The other loophole in the drama was the absurd reason behind the objection of Zhou Zhen and Xiao Shu relationship. Honestly, I do not see why the both of them could not be together. Their obstacle does not seem to be so serious for them to break off. Is the storyline too simple or there is no better idea to create conflicts?
They could overcome the obstacle of Xiao Shu father objection to their relationship but Zhou Zhen backdown easily and accepted that both of them could never be together. I felt that it was a waste in the plot as the scriptwriter could have draft a story about their struggle and their determination to overcome everything together because of love. Instead, we were presented with a typical storyline that was predictable. Everything became child's play and they were simply going through a merry-go-round relationship in the show.
