Drama Recap: Light Shop Episode 2

The Door

Sunhae is searching for a rental home at the start of the novel. She does not, however, have the funds for more costly flats. She must therefore make due with an ancient house that was located in a very peaceful neighbourhood.

Sunhae attempted to haggle for a higher price, but the broker informed her that this was the best rental home she could obtain for the money she could afford. Additionally, Sunhae is informed by the broker that one of these rooms is locked and cannot be opened. Sunhae made the grudging decision to move into this home.

Sunhae moved into the residence by herself shortly after. She cleans up the house and unpacks her belongings. She is resolved to start over in this new home and make herself more at ease by setting things up the way she wants. While attempting to mount a mirror to the room's exterior wall. Sunhae struck her thumb by accident.

It was late at night, and Sunhae was occupied with writing on her laptop. Outside her window, she could hear a man singing. Jiung is the student who must always go via this dim alley to return to his home. Sunhae expected the place to be quiet, therefore she was annoyed by the noise.

Jiung sings to give himself the strength to cross the dark alley since he is terrified of it. He feels relieved when he arrives at the light shop. But instead of entering, he simply stopped at the store's entrance and peered inside.

Sunhae is making an effort to fit in at her new residence. She appears to lose her vigour and get fatigued rapidly in this house, though. The home where she resides has an eerie quality. While she sleeps on the desk, some oddities occur, like her shadow shifting slightly and reflecting on the wall. The lights will abruptly go off when the lightbulb flashes.

After discussing the patient's condition, the doctors and nurses in the intensive care unit diagnose the patient. Due to a shortage of beds in the hospital, a delirious alcoholic patient was transferred to the intensive care unit. He muttered, "Who are you and why are you here to the thin air?" with a confused expression. The medical staff believes that he has annoyed the other patients, but they are unable to stop it.

The decision to tell the patient's family that survival is dependent on the patient's will is a difficult one for the doctors and nurses to make. Everyone was devastated.

Strange occurrences continue to occur at Sunhae's home. She was blowing her hair when she heard a disturbance outside and the lights in the closed room suddenly came on. Sunhae opened the door out of curiosity and was surprised to find that it could be opened. The only object in the empty room is a lightbulb that is suspended from the ceiling.

Youngji was deeply affected after breaking the devastating news to the patient's family. She walked to one of the restroom cubicles to unwind. Suddenly she hears what sounds like a voice. This woman asks her agitatedly, "How can an unconscious person have the willpower to survive?" "As a nurse, I am also unable to answer this question. I once lost consciousness in a car crash," Youngji shot back. How I had survived was a mystery to me. My mother claims that she has been praying for me to awaken, and I did.

Frustrated, a long-haired, ghostly-looking woman climbs up the door and demands that the patient wake up. When Youngji first saw the "stranger," she was astonished and trembling. Fortunately, after the cleaning lady called out to Youngji in the lavatory, everything returned to normal. The cleaning lady was curious about Youngji's appearance as she emerged from the cubicle appearing pale.

Sunhae stepped inside to take a closer look after seeing that the lightbulb in the room was erratic. She noticed Jieung staring at her in terror through the open window, as if he had seen a ghost in the house.

All of the students were exhausted and ready to go home after studying at night. Except for Eutteum, who is so sleepy that she ignored the commotion around her and rested her head on the desk. Although her classmates recommended that she be left alone in class, the gentle Hyunju tried to rouse Eutteum. Hyunju gives up as Eutteum declines to follow them. When Eutteum woke up alone after everyone had departed, she noticed an odd student sitting at the empty desk, staring at her, wearing a white uniform.

Hyunju was holding an umbrella as she attempted to navigate the dim alley with the manual torchlight Wooyoung had given her. It was pouring rain. She noticed a long-haired woman in white with red high heels in the faint light. Hyunju engages her in conversation and offers to share an umbrella. The woman with the long hair brushes Hyunju's arms as they walk side by side. Hyunju was startled when the woman abruptly got taller and her feet tripped, making a cracking sound. Hyunju remembers Wonyoung’s instruction to act as though she doesn't know anything.

Fearful of the "stranger," Hyunju hurried to the light shop and asked Wonyoung for assistance. After exiting the light shop, Wonyoung instructed Hyunju to go to her mother. After he removed his sunglasses and looked at the "stranger," things returned to normal.

At Sunhae's house, strange things continue to happen. Her long hair kept falling out as she was taking a shower, and she was startled to discover a bunch of hairs stuck to the washbasin drain.

Jieung was holding the umbrella on a wet day when he saw Jiyoung pulling a bulky piece of luggage. If she is heading in the same way as him, he offers to take her to the light shop and strikes up a discussion. When Jiyoung asked if he was alone, he said that he was. When she was standing by the window the other time, he told Jiyoung that he could see a "stranger" in Sunhae's house when they were sharing an umbrella. "Do you think they were together?" Jiyoung enquired. "Yes," Jieung said. Jieung quickly asked her to go after Jiyoung said, "Strangers live in the dark," and she suggested going to the house.

Jieung was startled when he saw Jiyoung's fingers twisted. After glancing at him, Jiyoung remarked that he was like her. His legs are deformed, and her fingers are deformed. Incredulous, Jieung tried to flee from her while staring at his contorted legs. Wherever he ran, though, it felt like a circle with no way out. Sunhae also knew at that moment that she was trapped in this house and locked.

Jiyoung headed to the light shop with Wonyoung’s assistance. "What are you trying to find?" He asked. Jiyoung remarked, "You know what I am looking for," Jiyoung carries her stuff inside, which is seeping blood. At the end of this episode, an unidentified man with a wet jacket walked into the light shop. "Why have you come here?" Wooyoung enquired. "I'm with the police," he said.

Drama Queen review

I'm more convinced now after watching this episode that there may be a connection between the living and the dead. They may have met once in their lives but have since forgotten about the meeting. The motivation of these "strangers" and the reasons behind their actions remain unclear. They must be searching for something pertaining to the light bulb and the light shop. It might be the secret to something significant.

It appears that the only decent characters in this program are Youngji and Hyunju. It's possible that Sunhae and Jieung did something to the strangers that they don't recall doing. The fact that Wooyoung genuinely assists Hyunji in chasing the "strangers" away pleases me, and I'm eager to learn more about their possible unique bond. Ju Ji Hoon looks fantastic in those sunglasses, in my opinion. Looking at his specs, which resemble galaxies when he spots "strangers," is cool. He is able to distinguish between a stranger and a human.

As the detective starts his inquiry, I am looking forward to the following episode. I can't wait to learn about each character's backstory.
