Maiden Holmes Episode 1 Synopsis: Unveiling Shadows

Maiden Holmes > Episode 1

In the heart of a bustling city, Su Ci, a brilliant female detective known for her extraordinary skills, enters a brothel disguised as a man. Her mission? To track down a notorious fugitive known as the "flower-picking thief." As Su Ci steps through the lavish hall, the storyteller in the corner spins a tale about the legendary God of War, captivating the guests.

Su Ci, a member of the Ministry of the Mirror Department, possesses a unique talent—the ability to see hidden details through colors. Guided by her instincts, she moves through the crowd, following the trail of her elusive target. Upstairs, in the guest quarters of the brothel, she begins her search, methodically checking each room.

A Mistaken Encounter

As fate would have it, Su Ci mistakenly enters the private chamber of King Qi Xiao Yanzhi, who now goes by the alias Pei Zhao. Once a prominent figure in the court, Xiao Yanzhi had retreated from politics after a tumultuous power shift. He now lives incognito, indulging in a carefree lifestyle.

Blindfolded and playing a game with the courtesans, Pei Zhao unknowingly pulls Su Ci into his arms. Startled, she swiftly removes his blindfold, realizing she’s entered the wrong room. Without wasting a moment, she hears suspicious noises from the next room and bursts in.

Unmasking the Thief

Inside, Su Ci finds a woman nestled in a client’s arms. Her keen eyes immediately detect something amiss—the "woman" is none other than Qianmian Langjun, a master of disguise and the fugitive she’s been pursuing. Despite his clever costume, Su Ci’s sharp observation of his rough, hairy ankles and the medicine powder under his nails exposes his true identity.

As Qianmian Langjun attempts to flee, Su Ci delivers a swift kick, bringing him down. She tears off his mask, and her team secures the fugitive. A disgusted subordinate mutters, "Eww, I just kissed a man!" adding a touch of humor to the tense scene.

A New Case Emerges

Pei Zhao approaches Su Ci to thank her, but she coldly turns away. Back at the government office, Pei Zhao receives urgent news: the relief silver meant for disaster aid has mysteriously vanished, with rumors claiming the mythical Sea Dragon King took it. Intrigued, Pei Zhao decides to investigate and recalls Su Ci’s impressive skills.

Meanwhile, at the Ministry of the Mirror Department, the General Administration assigns the same case to Su Ci, much to the dismay of Luo Shaoshu. Previously in charge of the flower thief case, Luo Shaoshu feels overshadowed by Su Ci and protests the decision. However, his attention is soon diverted by another grisly case involving a series of headless female corpses.

Flashbacks and New Characters

Back at her residence, Su Ci packs her belongings, pausing to reflect on her past. Memories of her childhood flash before her eyes—a time when she was pursued by enemies and saved by a mysterious young man who gave her a dagger. Retrieving the same dagger, she prepares for her next mission.

In a nearby forest, a young knight named Xie Beiming encounters an ambush by men in black. Using only stones, he skillfully defeats them, only to discover they are his own subordinates sent by his estate. Despite being from a wealthy family, Xie Beiming aspires to be a hero, valuing chivalry over material wealth.

The Sacrificial Ritual

As Pei Zhao and Su Ci continue their investigation, they arrive at a riverbank where villagers are preparing a sacrificial ritual to appease the Sea Dragon King. Unbeknownst to the villagers, the intended sacrifice, a young woman named Dong Rushuang, has switched places with another girl. Dong, a skilled herbalist and poison expert, has her own plans.

Bound to a sedan chair, Dong awaits her fate as storm clouds gather ominously overhead. Su Ci arrives just in time, learning from the locals that the Sea Dragon King allegedly stole the relief silver. Chaos ensues as the storm intensifies, and villagers grow increasingly frantic.

A Daring Rescue

Xie Beiming intervenes, rescuing Dong Rushuang amidst the commotion. Meanwhile, Su Ci and Pei Zhao fend off the enraged villagers. In the confusion, Pei Zhao’s young servant stumbles upon Xie and Dong. After an initial misunderstanding, they realize they share a common goal.

Dong explains her knowledge of poisons and her suspicions about the missing silver. With tensions easing, the group forms an uneasy alliance, setting the stage for an even greater adventure.

Episode Conclusion

This thrilling tale blends mystery, action, and humor, weaving a captivating narrative of intrigue and heroism. Su Ci’s sharp wit, Pei Zhao’s charm, Xie Beiming’s valor, and Dong Rushuang’s cunning promise an exhilarating journey ahead. Stay tuned as this unlikely team uncovers deeper conspiracies and faces formidable foes in their quest for justice.
