Fan fiction Chapter 6: Pretty Witch and Evil Witch

“Sang Tae oppa, we had completed the last chapter of our book” said Author Kim with a smile. Sang In came into the work room and congratulated the duo. “The two of you make the best team.” Sang Tae glanced at Sang In and looked at the other side of the room. “No, I make the best team with Ko Mun Yeong.” Sang In gave an awkward smile and looked apologetic to Author Kim. “It’s okay, as long as I think I make the best team with Sang Tae oppa.” Sang Tae insisted, “I am not your oppa. I only have a younger sister and brother who are waiting for me at home.”

“Mun Yeong ah, I am back.” Author Kim followed Sang Tae at the back to the cursed castle. She raised her eyebrows and asked, “This is where our famous Ko Mun Yeong live?” Sang Tae turned around and said, “Thank you for sending me home. You may leave now.” Author Kim stood in front of him and said, “Sang Tae oppa, why don’t you invite me to your house? We should have a small celebration for our project.” Sang Tae hesitated and looked away. “Oppa, I heard your voice at the door.” Mun Yeong opened the door and was surprised to see Author Kim.

“Hi, let me introduce myself. My name is Kim Ji Hye, said Author Kim with a bow. Ko Mun Yeong and Author Kim sat at the opposite side of the dining table. Sang Tae sat in the middle of the table stealing glance at the both of them. "Oppa, why don't you go to your room first? I have something to say to Author Kim", said Mun Yeong, Sang Tae nodded, and he immediately got up of his seat and went up to his room. Mun Yeong slowly turned her eyes to Author Kim with a smirk, "What is your motive here?" Author Kim gave an innocent smile, " Ko Mun Yeong Sunbae, what motive do I have except to see where our famous Author Ko Mun Yeong live in? I must say that this castle looks so spectacular!" Mun Yeong took out a bag of cigarettes from her pocket and placed a cigarette in her mouth. She almost light up the cigarette when she suddenly remembered that she had promised Gang Tae to kick the bad habit. She took out the cigarette in her mouth and threw it away. Mun Yeong looked at Author Kim with a sarcastic smile, "Stop pretending to be nice!" Author Kim looked at Mun Yeong with an evil laugh, " Okay, I shall not pretend anymore. Do you remember me? I used to be your fan Kim Ji Hye and I even showed my first draft to you as an intern."

"Do I need to remember you?" said Mun Yeong with a smug. Burning with anger, Author Kim remarked, "Ko Mun Yeong, you are still as arrogant as three years ago! I remembered when I showed you my first writing, you criticized my work for lacking in originality. Yes, I was guilty of plagiarism then, but you spoke too harshly of my work that I can never forget what you said to me!"  Mun Yeong stood up from the table and replied, "If you have finish telling me about your story, you may leave. The door is right in front of you.” Trembling with anger Author Kim spoke in a threatening tone, "I will make you regret what you had done to me!"

After Kim Ji Hye left, Mun Yeong gave a phone call to Sang In and told him what happened. "I can't believe Author Kim Ji Hye still held grudges over what you said about her work three years ago. I'm sure she does not know that you have been following her work over the years and gave good constructive comment under her book review. "There is no need to let her know. Just be careful that she does not harm Sang Tae oppa in any ways" said Mun Yeong.

"Juri shi, do you have time? Let's have a drink" asked Mun Yeong. She is holding a bottle of red wine as she called Juri on the phone. Juri and Mun Yeong went to the roof top with two wine glasses. "Juri ah, do you think that I am an evil bitch?" asked Mun Yeong after she drunk five glasses of red wine. Juri laughed at Mun Yeong, " Yes you are a bad bitch! Why are confessing it now? But do you know something? I can't seem to hate you. Do you know why?" asked Juri. "Because I am pretty?" Mun Yeong replied. Juri nodded her head and laughed, " Yes, you are a pretty witch, not an evil witch! You just do not want people to see through your fragility and always pretend to be tough" said Juri with a shrug. Mun Yeong gave a forced smile and asked, "Double-faced bitch that is a nice comeback, have we patch things up?" Juri took a sip of the red wine and said, "Of course. Otherwise, I won't be sitting next to you."

At the pizza restaurant, Jae Su and Gang Tae were having a drink after they closed the restaurant for the day. "Gang Tae ah, it had been so long ever since we have a drink together and catch up on our life" said Jae Su with a wide smile. "Hyung, it seems that your restaurant is doing very well. As expected, you are a good businessman. " Yes, I have been doing well and I am glad that you are leading a better life now. I used to advise you to avoid Ko Mun Yeong but now whenever I see that you are so much happier with her, I feel happy for you too" said Jae Su proudly. "Hyung, I heard that Seung Jae shi has been coming to your pizza restaurant regularly, are the both of you dating now?" asked Gang Tae. Jae Su shyly replied, “We are at the stage of knowing each other better.” "Speaking of which, where is Ko Mun Yeong?" asked Jae Su. "Mun Yeong dropped me a text message and said that she will be hanging out with Juri" Gang Tae replied. "I hope they will not get into a fight again" Jae Su exclaimed. They broke into laughter and agreed that at the end of the day they are still good friends.

It was late at night, Kim Ji Hye was flipping through Ko Mun Yeong book as she revealed an evil grin. A flashback to three years ago when Author Kim was still an Intern in Sang Sang Publishing Company. “Ko Mun Yeong Sunbaenim, this is my first children book.” Author Ko handed her draft to Ko Mun Yeong. “Is this plagiarism? It belongs to the rubbish bin. Rewrite it again!” Ko Mun Yeong threw the draft into the bin without giving her a second look. Author Kim left the office with tears in her eyes as she vowed to take revenge on her. “Ding, Ding! She looked at her handphone message from a person called Suicide Bomber. It says, "Park Haeng Ja is Do Hui Jae. Her mother is serving her time in the prison right now." Maybe I should pay her a visit soon, Kim Ji Hye thought to herself with a smirk. At the prison cell, where Do Hui Jae was serving her time in prison, she was reading the news article about her arrest and the picture of Ko Mun Yeong. She smiled to herself and said, "My dear daughter, you can never get rid of me!"

In the darkest night, a sniffing sound could be faintly heard from Mun Yeong bedroom. Gang Tae who was about to sleep in the other bedroom with his brother immediately got up from bed and rushed to her. Ko Mun Yeong is suffering from sleeping paralysis again. He grabbed Mun Yeong by her shoulders and lifted her up from bed. Mun Yeong grabbed Gang Tae shirt tightly as she sobbed uncontrollably." Gang Tae hugged Mun Yeong in his arms and consoled her. "Mun Yeong ah it is just a dream. I am here for you." He gently stroked Mun Yeong hair and laid her down to rest on the bed after she calmed down. Gang Tae stayed with Mun Yeong in bed till the next day morning. The sunlight shone into the bedroom and Mun Yeong opened her eyes and saw Gang Tae looking at her worriedly. " You had a sleep paralysis last night, what happened?" asked Gang Tae. " I dreamt of my mother, and she said that she will come and get me!" Mun Yeong cried.  Gang Tae hugged Mun Yeong in his arms and said, " Mun Yeong ah, hyung and I will always protect you. We are a family."

Next Chapter: Kim Ji Hye visit Do Hui Jae in the prison. What will she reveal? What is the suicide bomber, Author Kim and Do Hui Jae plotting to harm Mun Yeong? What is going to happen to Ko Mun Yeong and the Moon brothers?

Fan fiction Chapter 5: The Bomb and her Safety Pin

"Why should I help you deliver the love letter to her? What if Mun Yeong gets the wrong idea? She will kill me if she ever finds out!" said Gang Tae. "Hyung, Mun Yeong Unnie is not studying in this school, and you know there are so many men waiting in line to date Jiwonie. He looked at Gang Tae with puppy eyes. “Look at me, I am just an average joe!" Gang Tae shook his head. “I will just pass this letter to her. Other than that, I will not do anything to help you!" Gang Tae said reluctantly. "Thank you hyung! If I ever succeed in dating her, I will..." Before he could finish his sentence, Ji Won had walked towards them with a smiley face. Jung Hyun pushed Gang Tae in front of him and hide behind the pillar. "Hi, my friend here asked me to pass this letter to you." Jiwon took the letter with both hands and gave a shy smile. " Thank you for the letter" said Ji Won. "No, this letter is not from me!" Gang Tae tried to explain but Ji Won had already walked back to her classroom. Gang Tae turned around and look at Jung Hyun who gave him an apologetic look.

"Mun Yeong ah, are you coming back to work at Sang Sang publishing company?" asked Sang In. "I am still on my break, and I don't have any story to write at the moment." Sang In tried to convince Mun Yeong to come back to work since Gang Tae is busy with his college life and Mun Yeong should be quite bored staying at home. "I am actually thinking about writing my next book, but I still need some time to sort out my thoughts." said Mun Yeong. "Now if you are satisfied with my answer, can you get out of my house?" Mun Yeong pushed Sang In out of her house. "Sure, as long as you continue to write, I will keep waiting for you!" Sang In exclaimed as he exits the house excitedly. "I look forward to your next book!” Sang In said with a wide smile. Mun Yeong send Sang In off and close the door. She looked at her watch with a wide smile. "Gang Tae should end his class soon, should I give him a surprise by appearing at his school unannounced?' Mun Yeong thought to herself.

"Hyung!" Jung Hyun tapped on Gang Tae shoulder. "Looks like Ji won is calling you." Gang Tae turned around and was puzzled to see her. I read your love letter and was pretty impressed. she gave the love letter back to Gang Tae. When Gang Tae turned around to find Jung Hyun, he had already disappeared. "I supposed you had mistaken, the person who wrote to you the love letter is my friend Jung Hyun" Gang Tae tried to explain to Ji Won. "Really? But I only see you right now!” Ji Won stated. When Gang Tae open the letter, it says " Jiwonie you are my destiny."  Gang Tae was dumbfounded. "Anyway, I am here to tell you that I like you too." said Ji Won shyly and she left with a skip in her steps.

"Look at what you did to me?!" Gang Tae asked angrily. "Hyung I am sorry, I didn't know that she will misunderstand, I will explain it to her. I ran away because I was so nervous when I see her and when she came to find you, I thought that she is going to reject me." Jung Hyun tried to explain. "Now I am in deep trouble, and you have to take all the responsibility!" Gang Tae exclaimed. "Okay hyung, don't be mad at me. I know I am in the wrong and I will try to rectify the situation." Jung Hyun reassured him.

"Gang Tae Oppa!" Ji Won called out to Gang Tae at the hallway to the school entrance. " I am sorry it is my classmate Jung Hyun...." Ji Won stopped Gang Tae from talking. "Gang Tae oppa, I heard that you already have a girlfriend. But I am willing to compete with her as long as you are not married, we all have equal chance. I have confidence to win you over said Ji Won with a smile. "What makes you think that you can compete with me?" said a woman with a low threatening voice. When Gang Tae turn around, he saw Ko Mun Yeong looking extremely furious. "Is that your girlfriend?” Ji Won asked innocently. Refused to back down, Mun Yeong stepped forward and intend to fight with her. Gang Tae immediately turn around and held on to her shoulders. "Mun Yeong ah count to three when you can't control yourself" Gang Tae said in a desperate attempt to calm her down. Jung Hyun who was hiding behind the pillar ran to Ji Won and pulled her away to the other side of the school compound. After listening to Jung Hyun explanation, Ji Won felt like a fool. “I really thought that Gang Tae oppa gave me this love letter because he likes me! Why didn’t you explain to me earlier?!” Jung Hyun lowered his head in apologies, “I’m sorry Ji Won. I was afraid of rejection.” Ji Won gave him a death stare and walked away.

Mun Yeong took a deep breath and pushed Gang Tae hands away. She turned and walked away without looking back. Gang Tae ran after her and tried to explain, but she won't listen to him and gave him an angry stare. Mun Yeong walk out of the school and ignored Gang Tae explanation. "Mun Yeong, can you stop being so stubborn and listen to my explanation!" plead Gang Tae. Mun Yeong stopped and look at Gang Tae, eyes full of hurt and sorrow, "Moon Gang Tae you choose your brother over me when things get too difficult for you. Now you are probably tired of me and have thought of abandoning me to be with someone that is sweet, young and attractive!” Gang Tae shook his head and held Mun Yeong hands as tears gathered in his eyes. "I am sorry that I had hurt you. At that time, I thought that the greatest love is to let you go. Then I realized that I missed you so much. I know that I can't let you go when I see you again. I had found the courage and determination to fight for our happiness because of you. Mun Yeong ah, it was never my intention to hurt you in any way." Mun Yeong let go of Gang Tae hand and said, "If you ever have a change of heart, do let me know." Mun Yeong opened the door to her car and drove off, leaving Gang Tae behind.

“Hyung I am sorry, please don't ignore me. I had already explained to Ji Won. She promised not to bother you anymore." Jung Hyun said to Gang Tae. "Stop talking and drink with me!" Gang Tae said while tears started rolling down his eyes. "Hyung, you need to stop drinking the alcohol." pleaded Jung Hyun. It was late at night and Gang Tae walked home with wobbly legs. He was in a drunken state as he opens the door and stood there looking totally wasted. Mun Yeong looked at him with her arm crossed while Sang Tae supported him at the side. Sang Tae glanced at Mun Yeong and look away. “Mun Yeong ah, it is better to kiss than to quarrel” said Sang Tae. Mun Yeong gave an exasperated sigh and reluctantly supported Gang Tae at the other side. They placed him on the bed together and Sang Tae said that he will go and get a warm towel for Gang Tae. After he left the room, Gang Tae gave a silly smile to Mun Yeong. “Mun Yeong ah, you make me so happy!” Mun Yeong replied with a smile on her face, “Moon Gang Tae, you look so cute and silly especially when you are drunk.”

The next morning, Gang Tae woke up with a heavy hangover. He went to the other room and saw Sang Tae and Mun Yeong laughing together while watching the cartoon. When Mun Yeong saw Gang Tae stepping into the room, she turned around and walked away, giving him a cold shoulder. Gang Tae grabbed her wrist and whispered, “Mun Yeong ah, I have something to say to you.” They went to the balcony and Gang Tae is still holding on to Mun Yeong wrist. “Mun Yeong ah, I’m sorry for what you had been through.” Mun Yeong looked at him and said without any emotion, “why are you apologizing to me when you did nothing wrong?” Gang Tae hugged Mun Yeong and pleaded, “please don’t ignore me again, it broke my heart into pieces.” Mun Yeong melt in Gang Tae embrace and his sincere love. She looked at Gang Tae in the eyes and said, “Alright, I promise you that I will not ignore you again. You know I was just furious when I saw you with an attractive woman.” Gang Tae gave a chuckle, “Remember what hyung says? It is better to kiss than to quarrel. Let’s put that into action!” He pulled Mun Yeong over, hands on her waist and kissed her on the lips. " We matched each other like soulmates. You are the bomb and i will always be your safety pin", Gang Tae whispered softly into Mun Yeong ear.

At the campus, Gang Tae was walking towards the class and when he saw Ji Won waiting at the door, he immediately turns his back and walked away. Ji Won ran after him and apologized. “Hey, I’m sorry for getting the wrong idea and was mistaken about you. Don’t worry, I won’t pester you anymore after I found out the truth. You are the leading man in her life. I am sure I will find my own leading man who will love me wholeheartedly too.” Ji Won said with a grin. “I hope I have cleared the misunderstanding, and it won’t be awkward if we ever see each other in school again.” Ji Won smiled shyly at Gang Tae. “You will definitely find your leading man in your own story.” Gang Tae said earnestly. “Just stop sending love letter for your friend to avoid misunderstanding!” said Ji Won with a smile. “We may not be a real couple, but I can’t help it if other people insist that we are the campus couple though.” Ji Won said jokingly. Gang Tae replied with a sigh, "Then I will be in deep trouble again!" “Don’t worry too much about it, we can’t stop others from talking anyway. Let’s just be ourselves and enjoy our campus life while it last”, said Ji Won. Gang Tae nod his head and smile.

Drama Queen notes to our lovely readers:

Jang Ji Won is a fictional character who is created to stir some drama and conflict for the main couple so that their relationship becomes stronger. When I write this chapter, I thought of Ko Mun Young as a little princess in her heart and is quite insecure despite being reassured many times that Moon Gang Tae really loves her and will never leave her. Her childhood experience caused her to be wary of people so that she will not be hurt. She was never in a close relationship with anyone until she met Gang Tae. Therefore, when Mun Yeong saw Gang Tae with an attractive young woman she felt insecure. Gang Tae and Mun Yeong are soulmates and only they understood each other. Please do not hate on Jung Hyun because he is like a little brother to Gang Tae. He had a crush on Ji Won and maybe later in the episode, Ji Won will see something in him that attracts her.  Jang Ji Won is  a modern, intelligent and kind woman therefore, she will definitely meet a man that will truly love her.

The next chapter: Author Kim is back for revenge. Does she know Ko Mun Yeong? What type of secret is she holding? Did she hold a grudge on Ko Mun Yeong?

Fan fiction Chapter 4: Mun Yeong and Gang Tae Ant Nest

After the famous kiss of the couple in school, the students were gossiping about it and the news spread across the whole school. Today is the first day of school, Gang Tae walked into the school campus, and he heard people whispering behind his back. "Wow he look so handsome, I thought he looks like actor Kim Soo Hyun" said a girl that walked past and was captivated. " Yah! He is the student that passed the entrance exam with flying colors. Unfortunately, he is already taken. Didn't you heard about their kiss the other day? If only i could lay my hands on him!" said her friend with a deep sigh. “Hi new student. My name is Lee Jung Hyun, how do I address you?” Gang Tae heard a voice calling him from behind. “My Name is Moon Gang Tae, nice to meet you.” Gang Tae replied. “We heard that a handsome student who is a few years older than us will be joining our class today. I’m sure the girls in our class will be excited to see you. The other departments must be jealous of us right now.” said Jung Hyun with a wide grin.

Just as expected, the girls in the class flocked to Gang Tae the moment they saw him like ants being attracted to honey. They crowded around Gang Tae and were curious to know more about him. “Go back to your seat!” The lecturer came into the classroom and spoke in a stern voice. The crowd immediately dispersed and hurried to their respective places. Jung Hyun led Gang Tae to sit beside him. The lecture continued smoothly till afternoon lunch time. “Hey, let’s eat together at the nearby subway, I will introduce some of our classmates to you. A few of my friends were around the same age as you too.” Jung Hyun said with a friendly smile. Gang Tae agreed to join them for lunch.

The sky was getting dark, Gang Tae drove back from school and when he opened the door, he heard the bickering sound of Mun Yeong and Sang Tae. It was all too familiar and strangely it felt like home to Gang Tae.  “What are the two of you bickering about?” asked Gang Tae in a resigned tone. The both of them stop bickering when the moment they notice Gang Tae standing at the door. They stood beside him and hooked his arm on each side as they led him to the dining table. “Choose what do you want to eat, jajangmyeon or jjamppong?” The both of them asked in unison. “Are the both of you bickering because of this? I will eat both of the noodles.” Gang Tae replied as he placed his hands around Sang Tae and Mun Yeong shoulder. They ate the noodles together happily and Mun Yeong being the pampered princess, sweetly asked Gang Tae to pick up some braised quail eggs from Juri mum for her. Although the dinner tasted less than ordinary, it touches Gang Tae heart to see how much his family love him.

Sang Tae was watching his favorite cartoon in their room after dinner, Gang Tae joined him. “Gang Tae ah, I want to watch the cartoon by myself without any disturbance.” Sang Tae said to Gang Tae. While his eyes were fixed on the television. Gang Tae nodded and excused himself. He left the room and found Mun Yeong at the living room. “Come and share with me about your first day of school.” Mun Yeong said with a beautiful smile. Gang Tae sat on the couch while Mun Yeong rested her head on Gang Tae lap. “It was fun, I make some new friends in school. There is this classmate, his name is Lee Jung Hyun. He is really nice and friendly to me.” Gang Tae smiled while stroking Mun Yeong hair and caressing her left hand. “It sounds good, are there many ants in your school?”, asked Mun Yeong in a threatening tone. “Of course not!” Gang Tae replied in an anxious voice. Mun Yeong smile at Gang Tae and said, “I will crash them if they ever cross the line.”  This sends a shiver down Gang Tae spine, and he tried to cover it by laughing in an awkward manner.

“Hyung today after the lesson end, it will be self-study. Let’s go for a quick bite and we will come back again.” Jung Hyun said with a smile. “I’m sorry, I have a lunch appointment and I can’t join you.” Gang Tae replied while packing the books in his backpack. “Are you meeting your girlfriend?” asked Jung Hyun sheepishly. Gang Tae replied “yes” with a shy smile. “Hey, did you see a gorgeous lady sitting at the bench just outside of our school gate?!” A classmate came running in to pass this information to all of his friends. On the way to the school gate, Gang Tae and Jung Hyun saw an enthusiastic crowd looking at the gate excitedly and they wondered what the commotion is about. “Look at that beautiful lady who is sitting under the magnolia trees, with a book in her hand.” One of the students pointed out. More people joined the crowd which already have many people gathered to catch a glimpse of the drop-dead gorgeous lady. “Mun Yeong!” Gang Tae called out to her as he squeezed through the crowd and ran towards her direction. Leaving the crowd in utter shock.

Mun Yeong closed the book and kept it in her handbag as she stood up and faced Gang Tae with a tender smile. Jung Hyun followed behind Gang Tae as he pushed his way through the crowd. “Hyungnim, is that Author Ko Mun Yeong, the famous children book writer? Jung Hyun asked delightfully. Gang Tae replied, “Yes, she is my girlfriend Ko Mun Yeong.” “Hi, my name is Lee Jung Hyun and I’m a huge fan of yours after Gang Tae hyung introduced me to all your books.” Jung Hyun extended his hand for a handshake. Mun Yeong shook his hand as Gang Tae looked on with some jealousy. He broke their handshake by stating that they had held each other hands for too long.

Jung Hyun joined the couple in a Korean restaurant for lunch like a fanboy. “Noona , did you know that hyung was always surrounded by the girls in our school? I have to be the gatekeeper to stop the frantic girls from coming close to Hyung and eat him up.” Underneath the table, Gang Tae kicked Jung Hyun on the leg to signal him to stop talking. “Oh, is that what happens in school?” Mun Yeong turned her head and gave a cold smile to Gang Tae. “Let’s eat our lunch before it gets cold.” Gang Tae smiled nervously.

“Hyung, I will make a move first. See you later in school.” Jung Hyun waved goodbye to the couple. Sensing the weird atmosphere, Jung Hyun decided to leave them alone. “Mun Yeong ah, don’t walk so fast!” pleaded Gang Tae. He held Mun Yeong hand and led her to a bench at the park and squad down in front of her. “Look, I’m sorry for lying. I just don’t want you to misunderstand and think too much about this matter which does not bother us at all. You are the only woman in my life, and I love you Ko Mun Yeong.” Gang Tae said sweetly. Mun Yeong gave a shy smile as Gang Tae stood up and stroked her hair tenderly. “Sly fox!” Mun Yeong grumbled softly as Gang Tae smile deeply at her.

After school, Mun Yeong came to fetch Gang Tae from school. She parked her car near the school entrance while leaning on the car bumper. “Hi Author Ko Mun Yeong, do you remember me? I am Choi Daniel. We met at Angel-In-Us coffeehouse before. I happened to be around this area, and I wondered who is this beautiful woman from afar. It seems like destiny to me that we met again. Do you know that I tried to call you at the number that you gave me, but it seems like you make a mistake with those numbers.” Can I have your phone number again? asked Daniel as he took out his handphone from his pocket. Gang Tae happened to see Choi Daniel flirting with Mun Yeong when he stepped out of the school. Burning with rage, he walked towards Mun Yeong, held her hand in front of him and proclaimed, “Mr Daniel shi, we are already together. Please do not bother my girlfriend!” Choi Daniel was embarrassed as he kept the handphone back into his pocket. “Please delete those photos that you took with Mun Yeong too.” said Gang Tae with fire in his eyes. Choi Daniel looked away anxiously and bid farewell to Mun Yeong. Gang Tae stared intensely at Choi Daniel until he disappeared around the corner of the street. “Wow, Moon Gang Tae, are you marking your territory now?” asked Mun Yeong in a teasing manner. Gang Tae turn his head to look at her in the eyes and declared, “Yes, I am and you are my woman!” Mun Yeong broke into laughter and planted a kiss on Gang Tae lips. “That is my man!” Mun Yeong said seductively in her low-pitched voice.

“Ring!” The class has ended, Jung Hyun pulled Gang Tae to the hospitality department classroom and stood at the side door. “Look, hyung, isn’t she beautiful? Jung Hyun pointed at the girl in her mid-twenties. Her hair is long and silky, her face is round and cute. She is ranked as the prettiest and the cutest girl in our college and her name is Jang Ji Won.” Jung Hyun said with admiration. “What has that got to do with me?” Gang Tae asked curiously. “Hyung, can you help me pass a love letter to her, please?” Jung Hyun plead with him.

Fan fiction Chapter 3: Preparation for College

“Mun Yeong ah, let’s make our way back to Seong Jin City tomorrow.” Gang Tae said to Mun Yeong while looking at his car navigation. They are going back to the cursed castle now as Gang Tae needs to prepare for his college entrance examinations. The sun is setting, and the couple spend their afternoon eating those delicious pears which Mrs Baek packed for them, while reading some books on the camping chair. “Shall we give Sang Tae oppa a surprise?” Mun Yeong looked at Gang Tae with a beam in her eyes. “I bought a dinosaur book at the village. I’m sure Sang Tae oppa will love it!” Mun Yeong said excitedly. Gang Tae nod and smile. “The villagers gave us some beef steaks and vegetables as a farewell gift shall we barbecue those meat tonight? asked Gang Tae. “That’s great!” Mun Yeong smile from ear to ear. Gang Tae was mesmerized by Mun Yeong beauty under the sun, and he bend forward and gave a light peck on her lips. They looked at each other with passionate eyes and kissed deeper in the breeze.

Under the beautiful sky that looks like cotton wool, Gang Tae set up a campfire facing the river. They barbecue the beef steaks which the villagers gave to them and fed each other some cabbage wrap. They spend the night looking at the moon and stars in the sky. The next day, they continue their journey back home. On the way home, Gang Tae picked some green dandelions flowers and gave them to Mun Yeong. She cherished the flowers by holding them in her hands wherever she goes. A few days had passed by, and they were getting closer to Seong Jin City. Suddenly, there was a turbulence rain and they stopped in front of the Bates Motel Signboard. “It is unsafe to drive anymore, let’s park our camping car here and take shelter in that motel.” Mun Yeong pointed to the Motel right in front of them. Gang Tae stared undecidedly at the Batel Motel signboard. Without skipping a beat, Mun Yeong grabbed his hand and got out of the camping car.

The couple covered their heads with a jacket while wrapping their arms around each other. They opened the door to the motel entrance, looking slightly drenched. The couple were warmly greeted by the motel owner. “Hey, I remembered the two of you! That time the both of you did not bring money for a night stay. I even recommended another motel down the street!” Gang Tae was embarrassed and asked, “We need a room to stay overnight. How much does it cost?” Gang Tae smiled shyly and took out his wallet to paid for a room. The enthusiastic motel owner looked at them cheekily and said, “I knew you were a pair of lovers when I first saw the both of you. Nothing escapes from my eyes.” He handed the keys over to Gang Tae and added if you need any special service do let me know.  By the way, there are some rose petals in the bathroom which you can put into the bathtub. He led them to the motel room and slotted something into Gang Tae hand. “This is my present for you.” He gave Gang Tae a wink and left. Gang Tae opened his hand and was shocked by what he saw. His face turned into a red tomato and Mun Yeong looked away in embarrassment. Gang Tae and Mun Yeong spend a romantic and intimate night together at the motel until the next day morning.

Back in the cursed castle, Mun Yeong opened the door while Gang Tae dragged their luggage out from the camping car. Mun Yeong lay on the bed while watching Gang Tae unpacking their luggage. “Moon Gang Tae, what is your plan now that we are back?” Mun Yeong asked. Gang Tae replied, “I already registered my interest at Gyeong Seong College. After I pass the college entrance examination, I will study for three years and major in psychology.” “Shall we sell this cursed castle and move into a new house that is located near to your college?” Mun Yeong asked casually. Gang Tae replied, “It’s okay, the college is just an hour drive from here.”

Gang Tae and Mun Yeong went to Juri house for dinner. It had been so long since I see the both of you!”, said Soon Deok as she hugged the both of them. Juri, Sang In, Jae Su and Seung Jae also joined in the welcome dinner. “Where is hyung?” asked Gang Tae as he looked around. “Author Kim is driving Sang Tae back home. I supposed he is on the way back. We are giving him a surprise anyway.” Sang In said with a wink. “Thank you for looking after my brother in my absence.” Gang Tae said gratefully. “I felt bad that I had to call back Sang Tae for work when you guys were having a holiday. I got to make it up to you by taking care of Sang Tae. You also deserve a long break Gang Tae shi.” Sang In said with a warm smile. Suddenly, they heard sound of a car engine at the entrance. It was Sang Tae and Author Kim that stepped out of the car. Sang In went down to pick Sang Tae up and thank Author Kim for sending Sang Tae home.

“Gang Tae! My biological little brother!”, Sang Tae cried. “Mun Yeong ah, my little sister! When are you back?” Sang Tae gave them a big hug and broke into tears of joy. We just came back yesterday, and we want to give you a surprise!” Gang Tae said with tears in his eyes. They gathered around the dining table and shared about their experiences during the trip. Gang Tae and Mun Yeong bought some souvenirs during the trip. They gave a pair of mittens for Soon Deok, a beautiful floral dress for Juri, a pair of earrings for Seung Jae, a pair of sunglasses for Jae Su and Sang In, and a dinosaur book for Sang Tae. They ate and drank merrily through the night.

It was the day when Gang Tae need to go to the campus for his college entrance exams. He was dressed smartly in a white shirt and black pants. He looked nervous and excited at the same time. On the other hand, Mun Yeong was dressed beautifully like a princess in a bright pink lacy dress, a pair of golden high heels shoes and a tiny tiara on her head. “Mun Yeong ah, aren’t you overdressed? asked Gang Tae who is looking at her from head to toe. “What do you know?” said Mun Yeong with a smirk on her face. She dragged Gang Tae to the car and drove him to the college. Moon Yeong sashayed into the entrance of the campus, while she hooked her arm with Gang Tae. Everyone turned their attention to the handsome couple. They stopped right in front of the classroom door. Without any warning, Mun Yeong grabbed Gang Tae by the collar and planted a kiss on his lips. Everyone who was present stood in awe of the couple public display of affections. “You will do well for the exam!” Mun Yeong smiled sweetly at Gang Tae before she turns and faces the ladies who stood there with a smirk on her face. Gang Tae covered his face in embarrassment as he entered the classroom and hid his head at the table near the windows.

A few days later, Gang Tae received the college entrance result notification that he had passed the examinations with flying colors. He will be enrolled in the psychology department soon. Gang Tae shared the news with everyone, and they held a celebration party at Juri house. While everyone was busy preparing dinner, Gang Tae found Mun Yeong standing at the roof top balcony admiring the sunset. He quietly wrapped his arm around Mun Yeong from the back. “How do you know that I will pass the entrance exam?” Mun Yeong turned around, looked at Gang Tae in the eyes and said, “I always know that you will do well in everything.” Gang Tae broke into a bright smile as he tightened his arms around Mun Yeong.

Next Chapter: What will happen to Gang Tae and Mun Yeong relationship? Will there be an ant nest that build around Gang Tae? Is Mun Yeong going to kill the “ants”? Look forward to a jealous Gang Tae in the next chapter.

Fan fiction Chapter 2: Asan Pear Blossom Field

"YAH, what happened to this damn car?!" Mun Yeong shouted. Gang Tae took over the wheels from Mun Yeong and stopped at a nearby village. He got out of the car and checked the back engine of the camping car and discovered that the car had broken down. They needed time to repair the camping car and let it rest for some time. Which means they can't hit the road right now and was forced to stay the night at this nearby village. They walked into the village with Gang Tae holding their luggage bag and stopped at the sign which says, "Asan Pear Blossom Field". They met the head of the village Mr. Baek who happily led them to his house after he heard about their situation.

Mun Yeong wondered in amazement at the countryside since she had always been a city girl and it was the first time she experienced stepping into a rather simple village. The people living here were warm-hearted and they were pleasantly surprised to see a young couple stepping into their village. They had a warm reception for the couple when the news spread like wildfire across the village that Ko Mun Yeong, the famous children book writer had stepped foot into their village. In addition, the villagers hardly see anybody dresses so fashionably except for Mr. Baek daughter-in-law who is a chaebol of a huge shopping mall in Seoul. The villagers whispered behind their back, “did you notice all the heiresses are always wearing such trendy and expensive clothes like Hae-In? They look so gorgeous.” The villagers crowded around Ko Mun Yeong and asked for an autograph and selfies with her.

Mr Baek introduced his family members to them and Mrs. Baek exclaimed excitedly, " Wow Gang Tae shi, you looked exactly like my second son!" Looking slightly embarrassed, Mr. Baek showed his family photo proudly and pointed at his son Baek Hyun Woo. "He is currently working as a lawyer in Queen's shopping mall, and he seldom come back, for the time being you and Author Ko may spend the night in his bedroom." Mr. Baek led them to the room and Gang Tae bowed in appreciation of their kindness.

"Mun Yeong ah, are you okay?" Gang Tae was concerned about Mun Yeong as he noticed that Mun Yeong had not been talking much ever since they stepped foot into the village. Mun Yeong smiled at Gang Tae, "I am fine, maybe I am still amazed by the villagers and their warm reception.” Gang Tae held Mun Yeong hand and said, "Mun Yeong ah, the sky is getting dark, we should spend a night here, I know that you feel uncomfortable. I promise you that we will leave as soon as we can start our camping car." Mun Yeong broke into a tiny smile, "I supposed this will be a totally new experience for me." Gang Tae stroked Moon Yeong hair lovingly as he looked into her eyes. "Knock", "Knock", Mr. Baek knocked on their door and warmly invite the couple to join them for dinner.

At the dining table, Mun Yeong felt awkward as this was the first time she shared a table with a group of strangers. The food was really nice and delicious and Mun Yeong sat at the corner picking up the food on the table quietly. The Baek family warmly welcomed them as they took turns to pour drinks in the cups. The dinner ended joyously, and everyone was in a good spirit.  Mrs. Baek invited Mun Yeong to pick some pears with her in the farm while Gang Tae repair the camping car tomorrow morning. Mun Yeong gave an awkward smile to Mrs. Baek and agreed to repay their kindness by helping out at the pear farm.

While Gang Tae took a shower, Mun Yeong was alone in the room. Feeling bored, she took a walk at the outdoor balcony and explore the landscape of the village which she had never seen before. “There is another world outside the castle that I was caged in all my life. The people living here were warm-hearted and kind to strangers like us,” Mun Yeong thought to herself while smiling. Lost in her own thoughts, a little girl quietly stood beside Mun Yeong and pulled her dress gently. When Mun Yeong turned around, she saw a little girl around eight years old with a ponytail tail, raised her head up and smiled at her. Mun Yeong lowered herself to her eye level and looked into her eyes. “What is a brat like you doing here?” The girl has a beam in her eyes as she showed a book hidden behind her and said excitedly, “Can you do an autograph for me? I am a big fan of yours!” Mun Yeong smiled at her and took the book from her hands. The girl exclaimed happily, “Finding the Real Face!” Mun Yeong took the pen gently from her hand. “What is your name?” “Mun Yeong Unnie, my name is Lee So Hyun.” Mun Yeong wrote something on the book and returned it to So Hyun. She opened the book and read, “So Hyun ah, be happy always. Thank you for being my fan.” They smiled tenderly at each other while Gang Tae watched their interactions from a distance.

His hair was dripping wet with a white towel placed on his shoulders, while he smiled tenderly at the scene. So Hyun turned her head around and saw Gang Tae. She smiled shyly at Gang Tae and murmured to herself, “Handsome oppa.” Mun Yeong turned her head and saw Gang Tae who gave them a bright smile. Mun Yeong immediately turned back to So Hyun looking slightly annoyed and said, “This handsome oppa belongs to me!” She gave a hug to So Hyun before she stood up, turned around and hooked her arm with Gang Tae. “A mini fan meeting?” Gang Tae innocently asked with a smile on his face. “Stop flirting and smiling at girls like that!” Mun Yeong said in a jealous and possessive tone. Gang Tae broke out in laughter and shook his head, “I am smiling at you.” He said that while wrapping his arms around Mun Yeong. I came out to find you when I did not see you in the room. Let’s go to bed early after I dry my hair. Mun Yeong burst into laughter as they walked back to the room. This night, the couple wrapped their arms around each other on the bed. Mun Yeong placed her head on Gang Tae shoulder. “I must say my fan has great taste like me.” Gang Tae smiled knowingly and gave a goodnight kiss on Mun Yeong lips before falling asleep together.

“Mun Yeong ah wake up!” Gang Tae gently shook her shoulder. It had been a long time since Mun Yeong slept on a proper bed. She was still lazing around in the bed refusing to wake up. Although, it was fun hitting the road with Gang Tae in the camping car, but there is no proper mattress to sleep comfortably. Not that Mun Yeong is complaining as long as she has Gang Tae by her side, she will be happy anywhere. “You are supposed to help out at the pear farm with Mrs. Baek remember?” Mun Yeong suddenly opened her eyes wide in surprise. Oh yes, she remembered promising Mrs. Baek that she will be helping out at the pear farm. Mun Yeong jumped up from bed and get ready to greet the elderly who were already seated at the dining table. Mun Yeong and Gang Tae greeted the elderly couple at the table and had their breakfast together. Gang Tae followed Mr. Baek to the repair shop, while Mun Yeong changed into an ahjuma flowery outfit and followed Mrs. Baek to the farm. Along the way, Mun Yeong kept grumbling about her terrible outfit but still listened attentively to Mrs. Baek instructions on how to pick the pears from the trees. Mun Yeong cursed and swear softly as she picked the pears from the trees under the scotching hot sun.

When the sun sets, Gang Tae returned home to see an exhausted Mun Yeong in an ahjuma outfit carrying a bag of pears in her hands. Gang Tae laughed hysterically at the sight of her ahjuma outfit. Mun Yeung pouted and pushed him away on the chest as she followed Mrs. Baek into the house. At night, after a long day of labor they freshen up and sat together at the dining table. Mrs. Baek had already cut the juicy pears and placed them on the plate. “Let’s enjoy our fruits of labor!” exclaimed Mrs. Baek merrily. They have a farewell dinner that night as the couple will set off tomorrow morning in their camping car.

After the splendid dinner, Gang Tae was invited to drink makgeolli with Mr. and Mrs. Baek while Mun Yeong took a shower in the bathroom. They click the makgeolli bowl at the outdoor balcony and enjoyed the night skies. “It had been such a long time since we have visitors in our village, your presence definitely stirred up some excitement in the village. Thanks to the camping car that broke down, we can have you and Mun Yeong as our honored guests.” Mr. Baek smiled fondly at Gang Tae. Mrs. Baek chipped in, “It was such a pity that Hyun Woo is not around, I am sure he will get along well with you and Mun Yeong.” Gang Tae smiled and thanked the elderly couple for their hospitality. “Sorry that I had Mun Yeong working at the pear orchard with me the whole day. I just wanted to spend time knowing more about her.” Mrs. Baek speak candidly. Gang Tae smiled knowingly at her words. “Mun Yeong may look cold and distant but when I get to know her better, I discovered that she is actually a kindhearted girl. I like it that she is not pretentious at all. I guess I am used to her swearing and cursing now and will miss her.” Mrs. Baek laughed. Gang Tae lowered his head in embarrassment and said, “Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Baek for being so kind to us and I apologize on her behalf for being rude.” Mrs. Baek held his hand like a mother to her son. “It’s okay Gang Tae, we love to have you and Mun Yeong around with us. Our life has been kind of boring ever since our children grown up. Please visit us whenever you are free.” Mrs. Baek smiled tenderly.

“Moon Gang Tae, what are you doing?” Mun Yeong walked to the balcony in her night gown, and she caught Gang Tae looking tenderly at his phone while smiling to himself. “Is that a picture of a woman you are hiding away from me?” Mun Yeong tried to snatch his phone away. Gang Tae teasingly avoided her and showed a picture of Mun Yeong in the flowery ahjuma outfit. “Where did you get that picture?!” Mun Yeong tried to snatch away the phone and delete that ugly picture. “It was a candid shot that Mrs. Baek took of you at the pear farm. You look skillful in picking the pears from the tree!” Gang Tae said teasingly. She chased Gang Tae around the balcony demanding to delete the ugly picture. “Sly fox! Delete the picture or I will kill you!” Mr. and Mrs. Baek looked fondly upon the couple with a smile on their faces. Mr. Baek held his wife hand and said, “Don’t they resembled us when we were a young couple?” Mrs. Baek slapped him on the chest and signaled him to go back to the house with their kettle and bowl. “Let’s go, we should not disturb the young couple with our presence.”

The next morning Gang Tae and Mun Yeong bid farewell to the elderly couple family and some of the villagers came and send them off. Mrs. Baek packed a bag of pears for Mun Yeong to take with them for their trip. Mrs. Baek hugged Mun Yeong and said, “I wished I could spend more time with you. Do come back if you have the time and please stay longer this time and we can pick more pears.” Mun Yeong gave an awkward laugh which Mrs. Baek pretend not to see. They thanked the villagers for their hospitality before they got into the camping car. They waved goodbye to the villagers as Gang Tae drove the camping car out of the village.

In the camping car, Mun Yeong saw a message on her handphone and smiled. Gang Tae asked her, “why are you smiling?” She replied, “I had just sent my present to the villagers as she hummed a tune to herself.” Gang Tae was curious and stole a glance on her phone. “You are buying all the pears in Mr. and Mrs. Baek pear farm for the villagers?!” “Mun Yeong ah, you are so amazing!” Gang Tae was pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, the elderly couple just received a one million won cheque from Mun Yeong in an envelope. Seung Jae drove all the way there to pass the cheque to the couple and express her gratitude on behalf of Moon Yeong. The elderly couple looked at each other and were surprised by the kind gesture.

“Don’t think for a moment I will forget about that picture of me in an ugly ahjuma clothes that is still sitting in your handphone.” Mun Yeung said in a dominating voice. Acting innocent, Gang Tae said with a teasing tone “You look beautiful in all type of clothes, beside this is the one and only picture that I will ever see you dressed like this.” Mun Yeong angrily exclaimed, “Sly fox!”

Gang Tae said with a tinge of sadness, “looks like this summer holiday is ending soon.” He held Mun Yeong hand and gave a little sad smile. “I can always kidnap you again and this time round we will have more fun than what we are experiencing right now.” Mun Yeong proudly declared with a wide smile. Gang Tae smiled sweetly at Mun Yeong, “I am sure we will continue to have lots of fun.”

At the workplace, Author Kim and Sang Tae were busy with their new book. “Sang Tae oppa, you helped Mun Yeong unnie with her international acclaimed children book, Finding the real face. How did she find the inspiration to write this book? Did she meet up with mentally unstable patients too? Sang Tae oppa, why aren’t you answering me? Sang Tae continued to draw his illustrations diligently without looking at her. “She is my little sister”, he said as a matter of fact. Author Kim put her pen aside and studied Sang Tae facial expressions. She raised an eyebrow and grin to herself. “If I could find any dirty scandal of the famous and successful Ko Mun Yeong, I will make sure to pull her down and top her chart in the children story book ranking category.” Author Kim thought to herself.

Next chapter: What will happen to Sang Tae and Author Kim partnership? Where is Gang Tae and Moon Yeong going? Are they going to return to Seong Jin city?

Fan fiction Chapter 1: Moon Brothers New Beginnings

Fanfiction: It's Okay to Not Be Okay Season 2. Since it had been four years and there is no news of a second season, I decided to write my own story of the troublemaker trio.

Timeline: The story follows the troublemaker trio at camping trip when Sang Tae decided to part ways with Gang Tae and Mun Yeong. Sang Tae want to be a children book illustrator. Gang Tae and Mun Yeong went on a separate way from Sang Tae.

Synopsis: Sang Tae left his siblings and embarked on the journey as a children book illustrator. Gang Tae and Mun Yeong continue with their little adventures. What type of challenges will await them? Will Gang Tae decision to enroll in a college drift the couple apart? Will the couple start a new family? Is Sang Tae going to be successful with his venture?

After they had their coffee, Sang Tae and Gang Tae had a tearful goodbye as they decided to go on different paths. Just like the story Finding the real face, they finally have the courage to pursue their own happiness. Both of the vans went on their separate ways, with Sang Tae advising the couple to kiss is better than to quarrel.

While traveling on the road in the camping car, Moon Gang Tae was worried about his brother since this was the first time they had been apart for so long. He was experiencing some sort of separation anxiety since he was used to taking care of his brother all these years. He knows that he is no longer being tied down with his responsibilities to look after his brother and not having the freedom to be himself. He had finally found his own identity thanks to the woman seated next to him who was driving the camping car. He understands that he need not feel guilty for leading his own life and pursue his happiness.

"Stop calling Sang Tae Oppa every now and then, he is in good hand with Sang In!", said Mun Yeong. She looked at Gang Tae with weary eyes and snapped, "Do you want to go back now?" Gang Tae shook his head and spoke tenderly, " I guess I still need some time to learn to live independently from my brother." Mun Yeong gave a knowing smile and said, "If you really want to go back, we can do so anytime." They stopped their camping car at a lavender farm. " Let’s go!" Mun Yeong said as they held hands together and took a stroll on the grassland, breathing in the fresh air and taking more selfies.

Sang Tae arrived with Sang In to his newly established Sang Sang publishing company and was introduced to the author he will collaborate with. Sang Tae thought that she looks pretty but nobody can replace Ko Mun Yeong in his fanboy heart especially during those days when she still has her long hair that touches down to her waist. The pretty lady who is wearing a pair of spectacles seemed to have a warm personality as she greeted Sang Tae brightly. "Hi, Sang Tae oppa, my name is Kim Ji Hye and I will be working with you on my new book." Sang In smiled and said, " Sang Tae shi, I am sure you will work well with Author Kim Ji Hye."

They started to work on the new book with lots of discussions shortly after they met. He was busy with the illustration and hardly have time to talk to Gang Tae. Author Kim Ji Hye is a nice person who respect Sang Tae work but is he overworked? Gang Tae wondered. He was able to loosen up a little after the reassurance from Sang In that he will check on their work progress. Mun Yeong and Gang Tae decided to continue with their little adventure and enjoy each other company in the camping car.

It was during lunch time, Sang In looked for Juri in Ok hospital where she is working as the head nurse now. "Hi, Juri are you busy right now? Shall we go for lunch together?" Juri smiled shyly and nodded her head, and they went to the hospital canteen. "I am glad that things have been looking up lately after I set up my company in Seong Jin city. The final draft of The Murder of the Witch of the West was found and we get to keep our reputation in the industry. I can't believe that crafty girl Seung Jae kept the draft away from me for a month before leaving it on my desk! Does she think I will never find out it was her who did this? Our Sang Tae and Ko Mun Yeong book Finding the Real Face also receive good reviews despite the change of tone in writing. I am definitely waiting for news of Finding the Real Face being nominated for best children novel award. I was initially so worried about the response of this book due to the ridiculous video and now that everything was settled, I felt so relief!" Sang In smiled widely at Juri. "Good for you, and didn't I tell you that everything will be fine and that the video should be taken as a promotion for the book instead? That will hype up the sales of the books! Juri said with a grin. " Sang In winked at Juri, " Perhaps you should quit your job, come and work for me as my marketing personnel." Juri laughed, " Enough of the joke, I need to go back to work as Ok hospital have appointed a new director and he is very strict." Sang In smiled and held Juri hand shyly, " Okay, I will see you tonight."

Under the dark sky, Sang in, Juri, Jae Su, Seung Jae and Juri Mum Soon Deok gathered at the rooftop table eating some barbecue meat. Soon Deok said with a sigh, "This house became so empty without Sang Tae and Gang Tae! I wonder how they are coping in their journey. Sang In replied, "Don't worry, Sang Tae is working well with Author Kim. They are busy working on their new project and Author Kim admire Sang Tae drawings. I always heard her praising Sang Tae work, and they decide to stay at the workplace working diligently till they complete the project. As for Gang Tae and Mun Yeong, they are going to travel to a country village before coming back in a week or two. Gang Tae needs to start preparation for his entrance exam in college after summer ends."

At the camping car, " Sang Tae oppa, why is it that it's only been a week and you had forgotten about me?!" Mun Yeong grumbled angrily to Sang Tae on the phone. "Mun Yeong ah, keep your voice down when you speak to someone older than you. I need to continue my work with author Kim Ji Hye now. I will call you back when I am free." Mun Yeong put down the phone with a childish pout and walked out of the camping car to join Gang Tae who was sitting at the bench. Gang Tae smiled sweetly at Mun Yeong and said, "Looks like someone is feeling jealous and possessive now." Mun Yeong folded her arms and refuted his claim. It was another day when they sat together on the bench, looking at the clear sky and admiring the beautiful sceneries. They linked their arms together and smiled lovingly at each other. It seems like they were in another world which can only contain this couple. Gang Tae turned to Mun Yeong and asked, "Where shall we go now?" Mun Yeong gently replied, "Wherever you choose to go, I will follow." Mun Yeong placed her head on Gang Tae shoulder as they hugged each other. Gang Tae reached out his hand to Mun Yeong and caressed her right hand.

Next Chapter: What kind of adventure will Gang Tae and Moon Yeong encounter at the country village? Is Sang Tae going to work smoothly with Author Kim? Who is Author Kim and is she really a nice person?

Drama Review: It’s Okay To Not Be Okay Episode 1

Summary

The story begins with an animation about our protagonist Ko Mun Yeong as a little girl. She was labelled as a monster that went around terrifying the people around her. She was often lonely and one day, she saved a boy from drowning and he started to follow her around. Then a scary haunting voice told the girl to remember that she is a monster. Now our female protagonist became a beautiful lady as she answered. "Yes, mother."

Now let's meet our male protagonist Moon Gang Tae, a certified caretaker in a hospital. He has an autistic elder brother. This day, his brother Moon Sang Tae had caused some commotion in his workplace. As a result, Moon Gang Tae have to come and fetch his brother home. Moon Sang Tae has autism spectrum that is more towards high functioning. He has no problem taking care of himself generally but he is sensitive about his hair and hate it when people touch him. He has always observe his brother facial expressions and Gang Tae always hate his emotion towards his elder brother.

The little girl grew up to become a dark fairy tale author Ko Mun Yeong. She was seated alone at a quiet corner of the restaurant, cutting his steak. A little fan spotted her, and the mother asked for an autograph and a picture. The girl praised Ko Mun Yeong for being pretty like a princess and she was displeased and said to the girl that in her fairytale book, it is always the witch that is pretty. It scares the girl off during the photoshoot. Ko Mun Yeong manager Sang In came to fetch Mun Yeong for her fairytale reciting session and requested Mun Yeung to change into a brighter outfit. Mun Yeong refused to oblige and took the steak knife which she fancies because of its sharpness as she walked out of the restaurant. Sang In have to paid off the money for the knife that Mun Yeong "stole" from the steak restaurant.

Moon Gang Tae is back at the hospital as he change to his uniform, we can see the bruise and scratches on his muscular body probably due to the danger of his work as a caregiver. A patient was depressed and gobbled up all the food, Gang Tae tried to calm down the patient who started vomiting out the food that she ate. Gang Tae tolerated it as he imagined to be in a bed of roses. After that, the patient slapped Gang Tae on the face and told him not put on that fake smile as it disgusted her.

The colleagues in the hospital were curious about Gang Tae as he seem to move from one workplace to another in a short period of time. One day, a mental patient was admitted to the hospital as he tried to kill his daughter and himself. On the other hand, Moon Gang Tae called his brother to check on him. He asked his brother, " do you like me or Ko Moon Yeong?" His brother did not respond and hang up his phone.

At the hospital rooftop, Moon Tae chanced upon Ko Mun Yeong the children book writer. Unknown to him, his brother is a big fan of Ko Moon Yeong book. He advice Mun Yeong to put out the cigarette that she lighted at the non-smoking area. She stepped forward to look at him in the eyes and said, " do you believe in destiny?" She continued, " Destiny is when you need that person and he or she appeared right in front of you." Before she walks away, she dropped the cigarette she was holding into Gang Tae coffee cup.  Gang Tae was agitated and crushed the cup in his hand.

At the hospital recite hall, Mun Yeong was reciting her fairytale. when the lights switched off and everyone were asked to leave the hall due to an emergency situation. Turns out that a mental patient had escaped and came here to find his daughter. Ko Mun Yeong saw that the man wanted to struggle his daughter to death. She helped the daughter to escape and was struggled by the man instead. Mun Yeong had a flashback on his father trying to struggle her when she was a child. She was broken as she laughed and cried with the memories. Moon Gang Tae arrived at the nick of time and pulled the man away. In an act of revenge, Mun Yeung intend to attack the patient with a steak knife. Gang Tae stopped her with his bare hand. They stared deep into each other eyes. The knife cut his palm and he needed stitches at the medical center.

Due to the incident, the hospital have to held responsible for the lack of vigilant and the hospital director decided to let Gang Tae be the scapegoat as his employment record shows that he job hop very frequently within a few months to a year. In return, he will be offered some money for taking up this responsibility instead of the intern. Gang Tae was upset and his friend Jae Su came to fetch him with his motorbike.

Juri who was working in Ok mental hospital happened to be childhood friends with Ko Mun Yeong. She was tasked to go to Moon Yeong to sign some document for her father who is admitted as a mental patient in Ok hospital. She was fearful of Ko Mun Yeung as she collapsed to the floor after meeting up with her. Gang Tae forgotten to ask for an autograph from Ko Mun Yeong and Jae Su volunteer to forge her signature to deceive Sang Tae. But Sang Tae saw through it and started to throw tantrum. They tried to calm him down and pacify him.

At night, Mun Yeong thought about her trauma as she laid on the bed holding on to the family photo. Gang Tae was also awake at night as he thought about what happened. Mun Yeong was in her hotel room bed and thought of Gang Tae beautiful eyes. Unable to sleep, Gang Tae woke up and read Ko Mun Yeong book - The boy who fed on nightmare. His brother was sound asleep when he suddenly dreamt of the butterflies chasing him. He let out a cry and woke everyone up. Sang In send a message to Gang Tae in an attempt to bribe him so as not to pursue the matter when Mun Yeong stab on his hand.

In the company, Mun Yeong came in with her fashionable dress and everyone starts to hide everything that is sharp from her. She saw a sharp paper opener on the desk and took it with her. While walking to the office, she found Gang Tae reading one of her books and dressed like a gigolo. Gang Tae said that her eyes reminds him of a girl that she liked when he was a boy. They stared intensely at each other eyes.

My thoughts

I watched this drama in year 2020 when it first premiered on Netflix and I was a fan of this drama. It was during the gloomy period of covid 19 and we were trying to get back to normal life after the pandemic. It was only after i watched Queen Of Tears that reminded me to watch the previous work from Kim Soo Hyun. That was when my sister told me that this drama is very nice and recommended me to watch it. In the end, i rewatched this drama and felt deeper about this drama since I understand better after a second watch.

My father who was watching this drama with me commented that Ko Moon Yeong must be a villain and Juri must be the good girl. How wrong can he be! I told her the female lead is actually Ko Mun Yeong. He judged Ko Mun Yeong based on her character and i have to explain to him that Ko Mun Yeong is actually suffering from childhood trauma that is why she behaved differently.

I was a big fan of animation, and the use of this technology suited the atmosphere of this drama. It's Okay To Not Be Okay connect with some fairytale's stories which like what Ko Mun Yeong said, it is also an introspection of the reality life that we live in. The way she interprets the world as dark and cold reflected in her writings of the fairytale books. I love the way the characters were introduced to us, and it was very clear from the beginning that the main characters all have their personal baggage and issues in life that they carried with them through adulthood.

I empathize with Moon Gang Tae for being the sole caregiver of his elder brother. He seem to keep his smile in order to keep everything peaceful. That smile is like the smile of a joker which his friend Jae Su pointed out in this episode. I can immediately feel the pain and the patience of Gang Tae when he took care of his brother. This episode i had a glimpse of why Ko Mun Yeong behave violently and i supposed that have to do with her family and her upbringing. She was classified as antisocial disorder but i think she has a tender heart beneath her cold exterior. I was hoping that the medical diagnosis will be proven wrong for Ko Mun Yeong. She should be able to show and feel love with the people who truly love and care for her. When Mun Yeong mentioned about destiny, i am sure they will be each other soulmates and life partner.

The boy who fed on nightmare was introduced in this drama and i was very impressed with the story. This book teaches me to face my trauma and over come it. It is only when you overcome it, then your soul will become an adult. This encourage people to be strong and face your problem instead of avoiding it. I think after reading this book, Moon Gang Tae decided to face his problem and not to run away like a coward. I also feel sad for the girl whose father decided to commit suicide after his failed attempt to kill his daughter. Mental issue is so real and it happens in all types of situation. It is time for us to pay attention to these social issues and not to try and bury them under the carpet.
