The plot: Yuna's mother was murdered after being abducted. Her father used alcohol to cope with his sadness when her mother died. Yuna developed into a capable and self-sufficient investigator. She makes a vow to apprehend the murderer of her mother. She rose through the ranks of the violent crime department from elite police officer to senior investigation officer. In order to continue looking into her mother's unsolved case, she requested to be sent to a police station in her hometown. She investigated several high-profile cases with her colleagues, including drug trafficking, serial killings, and kidnappings.
Chapter 1: Hit and Run
"Stop running!" a policeman shouted to a suspect who was going to run away at the corner of the busy street. Due to his involvement in a recent hit-and-run event that claimed the life of an elderly woman, the suspect is under investigation. The man smiled at the officers as he ran away quickly. Suddenly he heard footsteps behind him and saw a shadow above his head. He fell to the ground as a woman in a black jacket sprang on top of him and gave him a forceful kick. She softly captured the guy and nailed him down in spite of his protests. The policemen who chased the criminal breathe a sigh of satisfaction at his capture.
“Detective Yuna?” When the police officers saw Detective Yuna, they were taken aback and instantly froze. "Why are you giving me this kind of stare? A forceful voice replied, "Come and bring him back to the police station!" Yura exclaimed. The culprit was handcuffed and taken into the police car by the cops right away.
How did you calculate the suspect's escape route? A policeman inquired. Yuna pulled out her phone, which displays a GPS map. He had just one option when he decided to rush down that street. "Therefore, I waited at the alley's corner for him to be arrested," Yuna remarked. Her fast thinking and problem-solving skills astounded the staff. Yuna quickly rose to the position of squad leader after resolving multiple high-profile cases and apprehending numerous criminals.
It was the middle of the night and Yuna was having trouble falling asleep. She grabbed a couple of beer cans and headed to the balcony. "Yuna, I know you must be feeling sad but still I wish you a happy birthday!" Yuna's phone screen flashed a text message. It was Yuna's childhood buddy Bo Young, who works as a crime journalist now. "What is there to celebrate about my birthday?" Yuna inquired, laughing scornfully as she looked at the phone screen.
A journey through time. Yuna's parents established a well-known bakery. The family was happy when her mother, Mrs. Kim, had a famous bakery. That is, until Yuna's eighth birthday, when Mrs. Kim was abducted and slain. The discovery of Mrs. Kim's lifeless body in the autopsy room startled Yuna's family. As a coping strategy for his depression, her father drank. When Yuna was a child, her father tortured her and blamed her for his wife's passing.
"We received a call from your hometown's Gangwon police station about a new development in the murder investigation of your mother. Twenty years ago, an old man who used to own a fried chicken restaurant in front of your mother's bakery testified that he witnessed your mother being kidnapped from her store by an enigmatic man wearing a raincoat. A coworker from Yuna informed her of the latest developments in the case of her mother's murder. While processing the news, Yuna grabs her belongings and drives the long distance to Gangwon. "I will request a transfer right away," she replies.
Yuna first encountered Mr. Lee, the eyewitness, at the Gangwon police station. "After twenty years, why did you come forward and testify?" He had to respond, Yuna insisted. I wasn't sure whether I saw the murderer, and I was deeply in debt, so I was concerned about my safety. After learning of this, my daughter urged me to come out and testify about what I had witnessed two decades prior. Keeping the secret to myself also made me feel bad.
"This investigation is under my purview as Team leader Choi. You cannot be involved in this case, even if I am aware that you are the victim's daughter. Team leader Choi scoffingly stated to Yuna. Calmly, Yuna pulled a note out of her purse and handed it to him. "I am now your superior after receiving approval from a higher authority. Introducing herself as the senior investigative officer for the violent crime department, she pushed him icily away. This news took everyone by surprise.
Senior Inspector Kim's retirement and resignation are expected to result in my promotion! stated Choi, the team leader. "We are looking at results now," Yuna remarked, giving him a chilly look. Several of the instances remained unresolved. I'll resign from this role if you can demonstrate your ability. Yuna answered. Yuna reviewed the profiles of her subordinates. Despite being the most skilled and experienced police investigator, Team Leader Choi Yoon is arrogant and disobedient to the regulations. Seung Lee is a young police officer who recently graduated from the police academy. Hae Woo, the computer genius, is adept at breaking security passwords associated with criminal activity. He never shows up for work and seems unmotivated.
Yuna created guidelines for disciplinary action and reorganized the organization. When Yuna threatened to penalize Leader Choi for defying his boss, he reluctantly submitted. At this late hour everyone went home except Yuna, who stayed behind to investigate the case. Yuna discovered an item about his father's traffic accident while going through the stack of papers. It was also Yuna's birthday, and the accident occurred a year before her mother passed away.
Her father was involved in a traffic incident, which the authorities concluded was an accident. The victim is a woman in her early twenties who is pregnant. After a fight with her spouse, she reportedly attempted suicide as a result of her melancholy. The traffic lights changed to red as she was crossing the street, and Yuna's father knocked on her by mistake while he was turning the car. He took her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Yuna visited the scene of the accident and was investigating the sequence of events that led to the tragic death of the pregnant mother. Could the pregnant woman have been killed in a hit-and-run accident? Is the victim's husband the culprit who killed her mother? What really happened here twenty years ago? While contemplating the issue, Yuna smiled when she received a text message from her friend Bo Young.
