TAIPEI: Chubby singer Lin Yu-chun got booted out of Taiwan talent show "One Million Star", just days after he shot to international fame due to a series of YouTube videos that got people calling him 'The Male Susan Boyle'.

According to Taiwan media, Lin, nicknamed "Little Fatty", was a wildcard contestant on Friday's episode of the talent show, but failed to make the grade with a score of just 17.

"You don't miss even one note usually. What's the matter today?" asked judge David Huang, after Lin's lackluster performance.

The male soprano, who sports a distinctive bowl haircut, replied that he was simply too nervous during his rendition of Shunza's "Coming Home".

Despite Lin's loss, "One Million Star" garnered its highest ratings since the debut episode of its latest (sixth) season, reportedly attracting about 580,000 viewers per minute.

Meanwhile, his YouTube video, which sees him performing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" continued to attract millions of viewers.

In an attempt to cash in on his popularity, the producers of the talent show are planning to bring Lin back onto the show, albeit as a guest star.

Lin has been invited to attend a taping of the show on Sunday though he will not appear in the coming two episodes, as they were completed prior to his rise to fame.

Footage of him will be added to the episodes instead.
