Kim Jong Kook is so cute as the "Tiger". Running Man is like a serengeti, where it is a survival game and the the fittest will survive. In this all for oneself game, there are a mixture of herbivores and carnivores in the Serengeti. Lee Kwang Soo - Giraffe, Ji Suk Jin - Impala, Yoo Jae Suk - Grasshopper, Penguin - Haha, Gary - Monkey, Song Ji Hyo - Fox/angry bird and Kim Jong Kook - Tiger. It is interesting how their onscreen characters matches their personality. 

2) Kim Jong Kook: Spartakook

Kim Jong Kook is a competitive person and he is the strongest man in Running Man. Therefore, he is often the main target of Running Man guests and sometimes among the Running Man members themselves when there is a conflict of interest. They would gather strength to betray each other and even gang up to eliminate the strongest opponent. However, they would strongly rely on Kookie if they were in the same team. Kookie is known for his muscular body and supernatural strength. Fans were impressed with his display of quick-wit, strategies and skills during games.  

3) Kim Jong Kook the almighty pillar of strength 

He is the fearsome almighty especially in terms of strength. I still remembered those moments in Running Man where Kookie displayed his strength and it was frightening. We know how hard Kookie trained his body and he set a high standard of discipline on himself to exercise regularly and he watches his diet too. There were numerous times when our hardworking Kookie displayed his monstrous strength and great determination in Running Man.  

4) Kim Jong Kook the humorous man with great variety sense

He is a veteran entertainer that appeared in popular variety programs such as X-man and Family Outing. Through many years of experiences, Kookie had mastered the variety skills from mentor Yoo Jae Suk. He can be really funny and comical whenever there is an opportunity.

His other nickname is Coach Kookie. His character in Running Man is supposed to be competitive and harsh towards his teammates. Sometimes, he was seen as "bullying" his hyungs and dongseng (brothers). He believe there should be a villain in every show to make the program more exciting and interesting. Therefore, he is willing to take up the role of a "villain" for the sake of variety. Other Running Man members played along with their onscreen characters too.

6) Kim Jong Kook the hottie commander

Kim Jong Kook look so smoking hot and sexy in black!  I love the way he swiftly moved around the place and did an ambush on the Running Man members. He should be playing more of a detective role too. 

It is known that Kim Jong Kook is alert and has fast reflexes since he is an athletic. I simply love commander in action! Those moments were classic and unforgettable.

Recently, Kim Jong Kook had suffered some injuries, especially his back area. There were times when I hope Kookie will not work so hard to avoid more physical strain. However, Kookie simply tried his best in Running Man without complains and that is really professional. 

7) Kim Jong Kook the gentleman 

Kookie is a gentleman and that is what his fans love about him. No matter how strong he is, the only weakness that he has is women. This particular trait about him project a good image of him onscreen. A real man is a man that knows how to protect his woman. Sometimes it does gets annoying that he give in to a fight when he meet a lady in the opposite team. However, we got to keep in mind about his public image and he has to be tactful about his actions. After all, it is just a game and I think Kookie does not mind losing. Furthermore, Running Man fans  were impressed that Kookie treat ladies with tender loving care, despite his beastly image. 

8) Kim Jong kook the capable team leader

I am impressed with Kim Jong Kook leadership skills since the early episodes of Running Man. He shows his abilities and capabilities in many events during the running of the variety show. He is able to think on his feet and lead his team members towards victory in games. Commander and the two kids were one of the highlight during the early episodes. He keep nagging his members and was known as a "chatterbox". 

9) Kim Jong Kook the shy man  

It was funny how Yoo Jae Suk used to tease Jong Kook. Our one man will be embarrassed and turn red on the face while avoiding eye contact with the ladies that he was paired up with in Running Man. He is so shy when the Running Man members tried to matchmake him with other ladies or mentioned about Yoon Eun Hye during the show. His reactions were funny and cute. The fact that he is already in his thirties and reacted like a school boy when teased make him all the more adorable! 

10) Kim Jong Kook : Our one man turbo idol 

He used to be a good dancer during his turbo days. However, the idol group was disbanded after a few years. Kookie also dances less often after his back injuries.  Nowadays, he displayed his dancing skills more often in Running Man, breaking into dance whenever turbo music was played during the show. It was a contrast between his appearance in X-Men when Kookie was reluctant to dance on stage and in Running Man. It shows how much Kookie has grown as an entertainer. He proved to be a great singer and entertainer after all these years. Kim Jong Kook became a respectable sunbae to his hoobae and a lovable dongseng to his hyung.

Running Man China Vs Running Man Korea Special

I have being an avid fan for Korea Running Man since its broadcast four years ago. It has been a popular urban variety show in Korea and the cast members gained their popularity in Asia. Therefore, China wanted a piece of cake from the wildly popular variety Programme. After all the hype that China had purchased the copyright from Korea, I decided to watch some parts of the show out of curiosity. 

I was disappointed to say that I do not enjoy the Chinese version. The reason being the uninteresting characters. The production brought the whole concept of the game which doesn't seem to be that fun as compared to the korean version. The Chinese sense of humor does not amaze me, neither do I think they were funny. 

My bias is Kim Jong kook and I felt that he was not being "welcome" in China. He was invited as a mystery guest in this episode. The Chinese cast members have to tear off his nametag in order to win the game and receive the reward. 

Perhaps, Wong Cho-Lam was trying to be comical and he exergerated. He was deadpanned after his nametag was ripped off by kim Jong Kook. His remarks was insensitive when he mentioned that he hope Kim Jong Kook did not come to China. 

There was this great moment when Kim Jong Kook black shirt was violently ripped off during a two versus one challenge. That was the first time Jong Kook shirt was literally torn apart which reflects on the fiercely competitive nature of the Chinese counterparts. At least, we can see Kim Jong Kook muscular body and I am definitely not complaining. After this incident, the Chinese production team should consider purchasing better quality shirt for their cast members. Anyway, Kim Jong Kook was given a red shirt in replacement.

There were rumors that Kim Jong Kook was instructed to lose to the Chinese cast members. Be it intentionally or unintentionally, it does not matter as long as it created a pathway for the Korean Running Man to come as a whole to "revenge" for their member. Kim Jong Kook came to give the Chinese cast members some lessons on nametag ripping and to show his superhuman power. Yes, above all it was to congratulate the premiere of Running Man China version. 

Finally, the Korean Running Man cast were here to challenge the Running Man China. It was obvious that the Koreans went easy on the Chinese in this episode. The Koreans have to be polite to the Chinese cast, therefore they have to take things slow and give opportunities for the Chinese cast to counterattack. 

Korean Running Man has been well trained in namtag ripping during these four years of broadcasting. In order to match the level of the Chinese counterpart, the Koreans opted for a one to one challenge. There was not much of strategy used in this epsiode as expected. We know the Koreans can do better than this since they are more experienced and have great stamina. Initially, I wondered why the Chinese team leader have a small nametag as compared to the rest. I figured out that this was intended to be an advantage for the Chinese team. It was unfair to a certain extent but we can still overlook that fact since the Koreans are good in this game.

The only person I really cannot stand is Angelababy. What's up with her begging for leniency and using sympathy? She knows that she can never win Jong Kook in terms of strength and made used of his weakness for women. Song Ji Hyo is so much better than her. Thank goodness, Kim Jong Kook did not let her win or else it will be an immediate turn off for me. At least Kim Jong Kook was very gentle with her so she should be glad. In my opinion, this lady is simply annoying.

The Chinese Running Man cast were too focus on winning in comparison to the Koreans. Both groups were equally competitive since it is a matter of pride for both countries. However, the Koreans were great in adding some "variety sense" on top of being competitive. That was the greatest differences between these two teams.

Veteran MC Yoo Jae Suk is great in reporting the "live" scenerio that was happening at the scene, making the variety show more interesting. Haha is a great entertainer with his great dance steps. Gary demostrated his strong power during the nametag ripping. Kim Jong Kook and song Ji Hyo works well together as Spartace. Ji Suk Jin is entertaining as well when he took it upon himself to challenge the weakest link in the other team and won the game.

Lee Kwang Soo could have done better but he was supposed to act this way whenever a "beauty" came onscreen. That is his character in Running Man. In my opinion, the Chinese Running Man need to establish their own identify and play their characters well in order to gain more viewership. The Koreans presented themselves very well and have great sportsmanship and rapport with each other. These were traits that the Chinese Running Man team can learn from their Korean counterpart. In conclusion, I personally will not continue to watch the Chinese version as I am more than contented with the Korean version. Nothing beats the original version!

Running Man Episode 209 Idol Race

 

I love the opening of this episode. The A-idol (original idols from the 90's) were so hilarious when they danced to their old hits. Kookie danced to the music of Turbo 1995 hit - Black cat. The other new generation idols was led by Haha. Shinee Tae Min, Exo Kai and Sehun gave a marvelous performance on stage. The last team was the Running Man idols led by Yoo Jae Suk. The 90's joke and the cute interaction cracks me up. I like Moon Hee Joon sense of humor when Jong Kook ask him to eat more healthy foods, he replied," you ask me to eat more foods?" Lol!! I like the original idols and they seem to be afraid of their sunbae Kim Jong Kook who debuted earlier than the rest. Hahaha... 

Their first mission was a basketball match at the swimming pool. Idol group Hot Moon Hee Joon is so hilarious and cute. He was teased for having a round face and the humorous Moon Hee Joon took it in his own stride and even poke fun at himself. Indeed, his V-Shaped chin had became U-Shaped Chin now. Not everybody can look like Jong Kook after 20 years in showbiz. 

I was laughing out loud when Kim Jong Kook called him a fattie in a moment of spite. It must have upset Moon Hee Joon and he stated that it will be better to call him Moon Yo Yo instead. 

After that, I was surprised when Moon Yo Yo bite Haha ass, but he was quick to apologize. His consciousness about his blow dried hair had me laughing too. The New idol team won this game, followed by Running Man team.

The second mini game was a wrestling match, Ji Suk Jin amazingly torn Moon Hee Joon nametag in lightning speed. Next, poor Yoo Jae Suk was challenged by Kim Jong Kook in this muddy wrestling match. He was lifted up by Kookie as soon as the game start. Yoo Jae Suk was overturned and his head was emerged in the mud. When the PDs told the visibly upset Yoo Jae Suk to wash up with clean water, he retorted,"how to clean the mud in my heart?" Yoo Jae Suk lived up to his name as National MC. Kudos!

Gary bravely volunteered to come out next. Needless to say, he was lifted and tossed down as soon as the game start. Who can challenge Kookie strength? Hahaha....

Ji Suk Jin tried to talk big infront of Spartakook. The end result is to become a huge "paintbrush" for Kim Jong Kook. 

Lee Kwang Soo tried to overpower Kim Jong Kook when it was his turn. He really tried his best and was sneaky enough to counterattack Kim Jong Kook. Lee Kwang Soo height is to his advantage. Unfortunately, he was soon exhausted and he eventually gave in after being repeatedly tossed over and over again in the mud. 

The only survivor in Running Man team is Song Ji Hyo and she promised to take revenge for his team. In order to win this match against Spartakook, Song Ji Hyo punches him a few time before biting his pec. Ouch!!! As a fan, my heartache for Kookie. 

Moon Hee Joon called Ji Hyo pretty before falling backwards to win the match. Monday couple Gary was "jeolous" and confronted Moon Hee Joon. Hilariously, Moon Hee Joon hair remains pretty clean. That was because he chose the shallow part of the mud to fall. Hehehe..

Danny is really skilled in wrestling as he took down Tae Min after putting on a fight for some time. The commentors Kim Jong Kook and Yoo Jae Suk were so hilariously cute. In the end, the Orignial Idol team won this round. 

I was impressed with Ace Song Ji Hyo in this flying chair game. She could guess the number of pebbles in her opponent hand. I wonder is she really lucky or can she really can read people minds? Ji Won cheated in the fourth round when he threw a pebble in his hand away. However, he was caught cheating when they review the tape. Jong Kook shamelessly defended his team. 

The final mission was to use the seven ribbon strings to create nine triangles. Ultimately, the red team (Running Man) won the race! Bravo! 

In an epilogue, we rewind back to the flying chair game to explain why they were wet prior to the third game. The cast had played a round of Ideal type football match with Soyou. Finally, it was down to Jong Kook vs Kwang Soo vs Haha. In the end, Soyou chose Jong Kook. 

My thoughts

Many people mentioned that this episode  had many foul play. Yes, they played dirty, they cheated and they scheme to win. This is not the first time, neither will it be the last time.

After watching this variety show for so many years, I had gotten used to their method of playing games to entertain the viewers. To put it simply, all of them are professionals and they will not put things to heart. Afterall, they are just carrying out their duties to entertain us. Haha even encouraged his teammates to use trickery on others. In fact, Soyou was just trying her best to participate as much as she could in this episode. 

I personally think that the Original idols team shone in this episode and they are really funny especially Moon Hee Joon. I like the interaction between the original idols and the Running Man team. They were comfortable with each other, probably because they had more experience in the showbiz. The mini games were a little boring and the final mission need to use the brain to think and visualize. This final mission was anti-climate but it was not too bad either. 

Last of all, I enjoyed the interaction between Kim Jong Kook and his cute brothers! Tiger hyung!

Running Man Ice Bucket Challenge

The Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head to promote awareness of the disease - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research. It went viral throughout social media during mid 2014.

The challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads and challenging others to do the same. A common stipulation is that nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation.

Famous celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, David Beckham to CEO of companies and politician George W. Bush were seen supporting this campaign. In Asia, this campaign went viral with high profile celebrities taking part in this challenge. Andy Lau, Jay Chou, Mayday, Gem and Fala Chen had accepted this challenge. Korean famous celebrities such as Choi Si Won, Lee Seung-Gi and Miss A Suzy had accepted this challenge and nominated others to support this cause. 

Running Man stars such as Lee Kwang Soo had accepted this challenge after being challenge by Jo In Sung. In turn, he nominated Kim Jong Kook to take up this challenge, which he gamely accepted. National MC and comedian Yoo Jae Suk, Leessang Gary, Haha and Ji Suk Jin were seen on the video participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge. The only person left to complete the Ice Bucket Challenge is Song Ji Hyo. Ji Suk Jin had nominated her for this challenge, however so far there has not being any video of her online accepting this challenge. 

Many celebrities were spontaneous in creating awareness for this disease. Not only did they accepted the challenge, some choose to support this campaign by donating to the fund. In the hope to create more awareness and to raise fund for more research on this disease, it was indeed meaningful to support the Ice Bucket Challenge. 

However, we need to keep in mind that we should respect the decision of each individual. President Osama did not accept this challenge, in my opinion it is understandable. There was no need for online criticism. In fact, we should keep an open mind regarding this issue.

Running Man season 2 is back! On 29 November 2014 (Saturday), they will gather 5 members to Singapore. Kim Jong Kook, Ji Suk Jin, Song Ji Hyo, Haha and Lee Kwang Soo will be performing at The Star Performing Art Centre, 7.30pm. Look forward to an exciting night from the dynamic stage presence from the cast and hilarious banter between them. 

The 2 hours performance will include a mix of comedy and song performance by the singers among them. Fans will get to win opportunities to share the stage with the stars through interactive and specially tailored games. 

The ticket price is $348 (VIP), $258 (CAT 1), $228 (CAT 2), $198 (CAT 3), $168 (CAT 4), $148 ( CAT 5). My thoughts 

I am personally disappointed that Yoo Jae Suk and Gary will miss this fan meeting. Perhaps, they are really very busy with their work schedule in Korea. However, I really hope that all the Running man members will participate in this fan meeting next time. At least Lee Kwang Soo is able to join into the Singapore leg of The Running man season two. Kim Jong Kook Papitus Fan club treated Running Man team lunch

Kim Jong Kook Papitus Fan club had forked out money and prepared a sumptuous lunch for the Running Man team recently. Everybody knows that Kim Jong Kook love to eat healthy food. Therefore, they specially prepared Ginseng chicken soup for him. 

The fan club must have gathered a sum of money for this special treat. Looking at the Running man expressions, it must be a delicious treat. They expressed their gratitude by posing for picture and upload it on Instagram. From the photograph, we can see different types of expressions.

Kim Jong Kook and the Running Man at Park Ji Sang Wedding

Kim Jong Kook, Lee Kwang Soo and Haha attended Park Ji Sang wedding. The retired soccer player tied the knot with Kim Min Ji who worked as SBS presenter previously. It was a star-dudded night with famous sportsmen and celebrities grace the wedding. However, Gary was not in the picture. Perhaps, he was busy with his solo performance recently. After married, Park Ji Sung will honeymoon with Kim Min Ji in Europe and settle down at London. 

          Is that Gary elder brother? Haha.
