When Kim Jong Kook (Tiger) met a real Lion!

What a sight to behold in Running Man Episode 200 - Asia Dream Cup in Indonesia! I certainly do not think that the Running Man team will thought of this idea. Anyway, Kim Jong kook was so scared of the lion. Just like a little boy seated quietly beside the lion, tactfully monitoring its movements.

When the lion opened its mouth apparently to yawn, Kim Jong Kook was taken aback by this action. I can't blame him for being alarmed, I will probably run as far as I could or even scream out loud. It takes a lot of courage to sit beside the lion, let alone stroking its fur.

Due to the fact that the Running Man failed their mission at the Asian dream cup, they have to accept the various form of 'punishments'. In my opinion, Kim Jong Kook, Haha, Gary and Kwang Soo have to accomplish the most difficult missions. Lion, tiger, snakes and crocodiles are not friendly predators at the first place. If whoever failed their mission, they have to do a sky parachute. How I wish to see Kwang Soo and Yoo Jae Suk reactions if they have to do the ultimate punishment. Actually I knew that the Running Man team will not receive this ultimate punishment. It was like risking their life for entertainment purposes.

The Running man did well during the Asia Dream cup. Gary impressed me with the kick at the goal post. Unfortunately, he missed it, but that attempted kick was pretty good. Kwang Soo and Jae Suk tried their best at the field and we can see their improvements after all the training.

Big Nose Hyung Ji Suk Jin replaced Park Ji Sung as the captain and I was seriously amazed by this decision. Considering his age, I think Ji Suk Jin already surpassed himself against the other players. Haha still makes me laugh when the Pororo theme song was played as he ran around the field with his short legs.

On the other hand, Kim Jong Kook had made remarkable improvements and seriously played like a professional soccer player at the field. Three cheers for Kim Jong Kook and the Running Man! Cheers! You guys are amazing. :)

Kim Jong Kook supporting Haha at his new restaurant

categories: ,

Haha opened his chain barbecue restuarant at Loco Quan 401 Hong Dae. To celebrate the opening of Haha's restuarant, Kim Jong Kook specially helped to serve the customers manually. His presences attracted passerby and fans to stopover. Kim Jong Kook Instagram showed pictures of him helping out at the restaurant.

Kim Jong Kook really takes good care of his younger brother Ha Dong Hoon (Haha). They are like buddies that will always support each other in everything. When Kim Jong Kook released his album, Haha initiated to collaborate with him in the song words I want to say to you.

Their friendship started in the variety show X man. Haha used to imitate Kim Jong Kook during the show which was very popular at that time. Many years have passed, Kim Jong Kook and Haha still have each other back. It was known that Kim Jong Kook does visit Haha's BBQ restaurant once in a while.

What do you think of having a hunk like Kim Jong Kook working in a restaurant? He was humble enough to help out with the chores at the restaurant. The picture shows Kim Jong Kook diligently clean up the utensils and stack up the chair. His serious attitude is worthy of praise! I admire his loyalty towards his friend which was demostrated through actions. Now that is what we call a real man!

The fault in our stars

categories: ,

I watched this movie with two of my friends during my birthday celebration. I got to highlight that this is not my choice of movie given it's sad and emotional content. I did not know about this novel initially until I read the plot. I think this could be a movie you watch during your regular days, but it just does not feel right for a birthday outing. On a side note, we were supposed to visit trick eye museum but the tickets were sold out very fast.

To cut the long story short, my friend suggested to watch a movie. To my disappointment, X men ticket was sold out very fast by the time. In the end, my friend suggested watching this movie instead. Okay, I did thought about not going but I gave my benefit of doubt that this could be a good movie. On a second thought, money was spend already and I can write a review about this movie. Thinking from that angle, I felt better instead of grumbling about it. As a matter of fact, we do not have much of a choice for a 'last minute' movie ticket purchase during a weekend.

summary:

Based on a best selling book by John Green, The fault in our stars is a teen love story with a little twist. It is not just an ordinary romance movie when both the main characters were sick.

Shaileen Woodley takes the lead as Hazel Grace Lanchester. She was terminally ill with cancer since young, miraculously her condition stabilize after experimenting with some prescribed drugs medication.

Now 17 years old, she reluctantly joined a cancer support group and met a confident young man named Agustus Waters played by Ansel Elgort. Together they went for an adventure in Amsterdam to look for the celebrated author Peter Van Houten.

Will their dreams come true? What will happen to the main characters? Will there be  romance in the air? What will they encounter during this trip? Is there any life transforming experiences? Those questions will be answered when you hit the movie threate.

Movie Trailer

My thoughts:

First of all, I got to give credit to the author John Green and the director of this movie Josh Boone. They set the mood in a postitve atmosphere despite the depressing storyline. There were some scenes when the characters struggled with the pain and suffered because of their illnesses. However, that was not what the story is about. It is the message the story is trying to bring to the audience.

There is a profound meaning in afterlife and how we face death. The search for the answer and philosophy of life. It is also about how the living deal with the death of a love one. The main characters did not wallow in self pity and live their life to the fullest. There were some heartbreaking and romantic scenes. For those who are sentimental, please bring along a packet of tissue to the movie theatre.

Ansel Elgort and Shaileen Woodley acted very well in their respective role. They were attractive and charming in their own ways. I heard that they worked together in the Movie Divergent before this movie and their chemistry was evident. I did not watch their movie before and I have never read this novel, therefore I watch this movie in a fresh piece of mind. Their collaboration feels natural and I can connect to the main characters.

Nat Wolff was great as the best pal of Ansel Elgort character Gus. He brought some humor relief in the otherwise depressing movie. The cast really gave an outstanding performance that is worthy to nominate for a movie award.

In my opinion, there were some corny or cheesy scene in movie. I may not be too emotional with those touching scenes. That is just me perhaps but there are people who sniff their nose towards the ending. This is a highly recommended movie for fans of the novel.

Running Man Episode 199 - 2014 Asian Dream Cup Special

Park Ji Sung is back for the Asian dream cup in Running Man. Who is happy to see our beloved captain guest starring in this episode? I am definitely glad to see the humorous and funny captain after he announced that he had retired from professional soccer and is getting married soon.

I love how the Running Man welcomed him. It was obvious that Park Ji Sung looked embarrass and shy in his suit. He felt so comfortable with the cast and easily fit into the Running Man. I love how he reacted to jokes and how he tease Gary back in a funny manner.

Park Ji Sung was in for trouble as he holds the responsibility of the team mission. If he failed any of the mission, he will have to complete a more difficult task to proceed to the next mission. I love the twist in making Park Ji Sung work harder than the Running Man. I love how Kwang Soo and Ji Suk Jin disturbed him when he was trying to concentrate on his task. The easy brothers were so annoying that Park Ji Suk for the first time looked really irritated by these two. He even resorted to chasing Kwang Soo away and that was totally understandable.

Poor captain have to jump the rope till everyone completed their mission. He almost make it through but failed towards the end when he tripped over the rope. Yes, he gets all the blame again and I pity Park Ji Sung when he collapse on the floor due to exhaustion.

Captain Park never fails to amazed me with his wonderful soccer skills. Only professional footballer like him could dribble a ball so well and even kicked the ball into a small opening. When he kicked a goal through the window, I was so excited and cheered for him. The bus ride to the next destination was fun too. I love their conversation in the bus.

Are the Running Man team making fun of the captain? I was laughing out loud with all the creative ideas and games! A scarecrow captain? I am happy to see Park Ji Sung being so fun loving and sporty. Lee Kwang Soo was so funny when he tried to spat the water into the container which was later used to slashed on Yoo Jae Suk face. Okay, that was really dirty water. Haha.

Captain Park have the skills and the luck for today. I love his expression when he choose the correct plate. Yes, he deserved all the praise. Kookie was so funny when he volunteered to drink the bitter herbal tea. Well, as long as the things he placed in his mouth is healthy, he will just take it without a second thought.

The meeting of the two soccer legend. Cha Bum-Kun was here to visit his ex student Park Ji Sung. I love their humble attitude and the way they presented themselves. Can we have more sportsman like them to be guest in Running Man. Yes, we absolutely need more of them here. During the training, Gary and Lee Kwang Soo performed really well and was praised by their coach. I like it that the two legendary soccer players gamely accepted the challenge and even train the Running Man team.

This is not an easy task, who can kick the ball in? Yes, the World Cup fever is on and we all get excited to see anyone score a goal right? Hooray, the Korean legend will forever leave a legacy for the next generation of footballers.

Their final mission of the day is to play a friendly match with the idols team. They will play against each other for 30 minutes. Park Ji Sung was allowed to play on the field for 15 minutes. Which means, Running Man have to use the benefit wisely. I love the expression of Park Ji Sung while he observed the match. The Running Man performed poorly against the much more experienced Idol team. At one point, Haha almost kick the ball into his team goalpost. Note that the Idol team also have a great coach Seol Ki-hyeon behind their back.

Did Park Ji Sung teach the Running Man how to assault their rivals without getting caught? That was so adorable of him to agree with the Running Man team. Park Ji Suk ran like an ox and even triggered fear in the idol team. Although the Running Man lost the match against the Idol team, I believed that they had learnt some experience and improved their skills during the training process. Look forward to the Asia dream cup!

DramaQueen favorite Jdorama Part 1

Title: Itazura Na Kiss

Starring: Kashiwabara Takashi (Kassy), Aiko Sato

Theme song: Steady

Singer: Speed

Year of broadcasting: 1996

Story line: Irie Naoki (Kassy) is the smartest boy in the whole school. He is a good looking genius and he is great in sports too. You almost could not find any fault in him. On the other hand, Kotoko    (Aiko Sato) is a silly girl from class F. She is average looking, loud and clumsy. She has a one-sided love for Naoki Irie.

My thoughts:

I love Itazura Na Kiss because of the chemistry between the main leads and the romantic comedy story line. Kassy did well as the cold, serious, good looking genius Naoki Irie. Yes, Kassy was my first Japanese drama crush. Who can resist a Ikemen (handsome boy)? He was the last century representative of Japanese pretty boy!

On the other hand, Sato Aiko is annoying with her high pitched screaming but I am impressed with her portrayal of the brave Kotoko. At least, she left a great impression on me. Both Irie and Kotoko have strengths and weaknesses. The highlight is how they complement and complete each other. At the end of the day, they actually bring out the best in each other. I like Kotoko determination and her persistence in what she think is right. She is the one with the gusto to correct Naoki Irie mistake.

Sadly, my happiness was cut short with the rushed and abrupt ending of the drama. Although I know that Naoki Irie have shown signs of liking Kotoko, we need more obvious evidence such as Naoki Irie doing something to show his love for her. Even till the end, he 'suddenly' realized that he like Kotoko and wanted her to stay with him? At the first place, he did not seem to get 'jealous' or 'upset' with Kotoko over Kin Chan. What is the point of having her good friend Kin Chan in this drama? It was only much later did I know about the anime and discovered that this drama did not follow the original manga. Therefore, not many people can accept the changes.

The character development was lacking and it seems like a romantic comedy that is not to be taken seriously. That was such a shame since We know how much potentially this drama has judging from the Korean and Taiwanese adaptation of this manga. I always hope that the Japanese will produce another season after this drama was aired in 1996 and we will see this onscreen couple again. However, the wish never came true until 2013, but the both of them appeared in different episodes. Despite my disappointment with their cameo, i still hope that they will have a chance to reunite with each other in another drama.

Title: Majo no Jouken

Starring: Hideaki Takizawa (Tackey) and Matsushima Nanako.

Theme Song: First love

Singer: Hikaru Utada

Year of broadcasting: 1999

Story line: The story is about a forbidden love between Michi (Nanako) a teacher and a student Hikaru (Tackey). One of the hottest and controversial J-drama that debuted in1999.

My thoughts:

It had been over a decade long since I watched this drama. It has a great impact on me when I first watched this drama. It was common sense why the society will condemn this action even during these days. As Asian, we are a conservative society that does not condone this behavior. The relationship is definitely doomed right from the start.

Tackey is my second J drama crush and he was only 17 years old then. He has a well crafted jawline, puppy eyes, bouncy lips and flawless skin. Nanako and Tackey acted very well in their respective role. The two troubled people finding comfort in each other and develop feeling for each other.

The ending is open ended and really depends on how we want to view it. Overall, I find that this drama was very depressing but I like the way the director execute the story.

Title: Beach boy

Starring: Sorimachi Takashi, Takenouchi Yutaka

Year of broadcasting: 1997

Theme song: Foever

Singers: Sorimachi Takashi and Richie Sambora

Story line: Upon getting thrown out of his girlfriend Fujiko's apartment, Hiromi (Sorimachi) decides to head for the Ocean. En route, he crosses paths with Kaito (Takenouchi), an elite employee of a large multinational company in Tokyo who is running away from his problems at work after losing a  key client.

My thoughts:

I was still studying in school when i watched this Jdorama and instantly fall for the main characters. They were the coolest guys i have ever seen in a drama. During those days, Sorimachi Takashi and Takenouchi Yutaka were the hottest "It' guys in Japan! I like the background setting of this drama about the bottle that was cast into the ocean and how at the other side of the world, someone actually picked up the bottle. This is actually a small world where we can connect to each other even by throwing a bottle into the ocean.

What are the chances of having two good looking guys in a beach for a short vacation? There goes the fantasy head of the little girl in my heart. The story was simple and i like the contrast between the lead actors. Their difference was like the Sun and the Moon but they can click so well in this drama. I like the way the cast interacted with each other. There is something refreshing because the story focused on friendship instead of the usual romance. I like the way the story progressed from the main characters trying to escape something in their life to finally facing their fears and eventually begins to appreciate the ocean.

The story is like a long vacation where we get to see eye candies and find out the story about each characters. In the process, we get to know each one of them like a friend that listens to their stories unfolds with each episode. The cast did a good job in acting out their roles and the director created a dynamics for the cast to interact with each other. Some of it was brief and the scriptwriter did not explain certain details. Nonetheless, this drama is worth watching because of the interesting characters and story.

Running Man Episode 198: Kim Jong kook and Ha Yeon-Soo Couple Race

I am going to gush about Kim Jong Kook in this episode. How rarely we get to see the embarrassed and shy Kim Jong Kook? I am glad that his partner is Ha Yeon-Soo and I love how they interacted with each other. This couple met on the street and they have to reenacted a scene from a drama. In this scene, Kim Jong Kook have to help Ha Yeon-Soo put on the headphone.

Remember this scene? It reminds me of Kim Jong Kook tenderly covered Yoon Eun Hye ears during X man. Is it time to say goodbye to this memorable couple? Anyway, Kim Jong kook look so amazingly cool in the Sunglasses.

When Yoo Jae Suk joked about Ha Yeon-Soo face being smaller than Kim Jong Kook bicep, she immediately took Kim Jong Kook bicep and compare it with her face. I love that fun loving personality of this girl. She appears to be competitive, cheerful, enthusiastic and fun in the variety show. That is probably why a good partner is actually important.

This is the first time I heard Kim Jong Kook singing his song so randomly. We all know that he does not sing during boardcasting and he does it for the first time upon request by Ha Yeon-Soo. He sang the first verse of - One man. I am totally enjoying this couple ride and the beautiful voice of Kookie.

Kim Jong Kook attempted to make his partner more comfortable with the pickle game. Instead, his comfortable level went down everytime he stall for time. His red blushful face is so adorably cute. Big softie teddy bear Kookie!!

Who is envy of this girl? Ok.. That is really close to Kookie and we can see his  blushful expression. Bravo to Ha Yeon-Soo for being so sporty! She took the initiative to bite the pickle and move closer to Kookie.

Kim Jong Kook performed at Beijing and declared his love for China!

According to Chinanews.com Beijing 14 June news, popular Korean celebrity Kim Jong Kook arrived in Beijing. At the red carpet, Kim Jong Kook greeted his passionate fans. When a reporter asked him what is his impression of china? He sweetly replied, my name is Jong Kook - 钟国 (pronounce as china 中国).

The K-pop wave swept Beijing at the OST concert with the presence of Kim Jong Kook, Shen Min Chul, Crayon pop, Sexy Queen Ailee, China popular boyband 0086 and M4M. They performed at the Beijing Chinese-Korean music OST concert and graced the red carpet too.

Crayon pop performed their famous hit  song - Bar Bar Bar at the Beijing Chinese-Korean music wave OST concert. Ailee and Shen Min Chul also belted out some famous Korean drama Original Sound Tracks.

The ambience of the Chinese-Korean music OST concert was at its highest peak when Kim Jong stepped on stage. He sang three classic songs while the audiences sing and waved their hands in the air.

During the songs interval, Kim Jong Kook greeted his fans and declared that he love China. He also cheekily reminded the audience that his name is 'Kim Jong Kook' (钟国which can be pronounce as China). He thanked the audience for their support of him and Korean variety Programme Running Man. In addition, he hopes that Chinese-Korean music culture will continue to be loved by everyone.

DramaQueen pick: Recollection of Takashi Kashiwabara

I was a little surprise when I saw Kashiwabara Takashi cameo appearance in Itazura Na Kiss: Love In Toyko. It was disappointing that he only appears for a few seconds, blink your eyes and you will miss it. At least Sato Aiko who played Kotoko in 1996 version have more screen presence. Anyway, Kassy  aged gracefully over the years and look thinner than ever. Sato Aiko aged gracefully too. Many years have passed and all that is left is reminiscence of those precious moments.

This was Takashi Kashiwabara 1995  movie debut - Love Letter. That was an old school movie that touched my heart. He acted as Itsuki Fujii, the quiet and charming young man. I thought that his features were sharp and were crafted like a beautiful sculpture. That was the first Japanese movie that I loved because it has a great storyline, an unexpected twist and notably an amazing cast.

Hakusen Nagashi aired in 1996 and subsequently produced a few seasons later. I do have a deep impression of this drama. Somehow, I vaguely remembered that I had watched this drama when I was schooling. Takashi Kashiwabara and his co-stars look good in their school uniforms and I used to think that it will be great to have my uniform tailor make like the Japanese. Anyway, this drama was a highly successful Jdorama that rise the profile of the main characters and was followed by a few seasons later on in the years. The storyline is about a group of high school students growth in life and the various experience they were put through in  different seasons of life.

This was a comic based comedy about the talented sushi chef Shota. I was introduced to Sushi and some of the delicious Japanese cuisine after watching this drama. I begin to understand how extremely difficult it is to master the art of making sushi. It emphasize about the  pursue of perfection in the process of the art. I lost count of the number of times I was drooling at the foods. Takashi Kashiwabara whose nickname is Kassy look 'kawaii' (adorable) as the never give up sushi chef. No matter how many obstacles he have to faced, Shota still held on to his belief and overcome all these challenges.

My first jdrama crush is Irie kun. Although there were  merely nine episodes of Itatura Na Kiss, I still remember that I used to chase this drama like crazy. Nothing beats a charming and handsome boy like him. Unconsciously, Takashi Kashiwabara became the standard of a 'pretty flower boy' in my heart.

This is not a fantastic drama in my opinion. It was simply a terribly wrong casting. How could Kimura Yoshino act as an outstanding idol convincingly when he stood beside the dreamy good look Kassy? That aside, Issida Issei is just a two timer that waver between these two men. Not to mention the silly ending. If not for Kassy, I may even skip this whole show.

Takashi Kashiwabara was so cool and hot in Renai Kekkon No Rules.  He always processed a charming smile. In this drama, kassy plays a devoted man that falls for an older woman. Sadly, Takashi Kashiwabara seldom act as the first main lead despite his good looks and acting abilities. Till now, I still don't understand why he was very often not given a better opportunity to be the main character.

Big wings can be considered as another breakthrough for Takashi Kashiwabara. He was finally back as the only male lead in a drama. I was totally hooked on this Jdorama although certain parts were cheesy. There were many things I like about this drama from the chemistry of the cast to the story line. Kassy looked smart and handsome in a tuxedo. For your information, kassy acted with his ex-wife Hatano Hiroko in this drama. Kassy was reported to have fall in love with her after she took care of him when he fall sick. There are rumors that Kassy current girlfriend is the main lead Uchida Yuki.

Takashi Kashiwabara act as part of a underground medical group. He was cool and composed when he perform surgery. This drama was another Manga adapted live version movie drama which Japanese apparently enjoyed watching.

I love how Takashi Kashiwabara acted as a playboy in Love Quotient. It was impressive that kassy is a versatile actor that refused to be stereotype in the same character.

Another Heaven was a horror thriller about supernatural beings. Takshi Kashiwabara took a devilish psycho role in a short segment of the movie where he was possessed by a evil spirit.

This was another suspense thrill movie starring Kashiwabara Takashi in one of the short segment. He acted in the Lizard tales which is also a thriller movie. I noticed that Kassy usually take on some weird productions.

I enjoyed this drama - Always the two of us. This was a 2003 drama starring Takako Matsu and Kenji Sakaguchi. Actually, I preferred the second lead - Naoyuki Okata portrayed by Kashiwabara Takashi in the first two episodes. He is not the boring type of hero we see in a main lead. Comparing Kassy and Kenji Sakaguchi characters in this drama, I prefer the goofy, cheekily and funny Kassy. Kenji portrayal of Kenta Morinaga was plain boring and in the end we know that he will eventually get the girl. Unfortunately, Takashi Kashiwabara did not continue in this series after making a promising start in the drama. He had to recuperates from his illness therefore he had to quit this drama. This role was given to Shingo Katsurayama who did not perform as well as Kassy does.

I will always remember Kassy for his impressionable protrayal of Naoyuki Okata. This prove that nobody can replace his character in the drama that he starred in. This would be another Kassy best role to date if he could continue with this drama.

Takashi Kashiwabara appeared in Orange days. Sadly, he was not one of the main character which was a shame. Despite that, I do enjoyed this popular drama very much and I was happy that it achieved a high ratings in Japan.

This was a mystery suspense thrill movie titled: Surviving games in the Colosseum. There was a crime going on among  the Seven people in the enclosed premise. Those who cannot solve the puzzle will be killed. Ultimately, who is the murderer and will there be any survivor? I like this detective movie and I think Japanese are good in this type of genres. Furthermore, i am glad that  Kashiwabara Takashi came back as the main lead.

I love Kashiwabara Takashi in Shukumei. Both Fujiki Naohito and Kashiwabara were good actors and act as great rival in this drama. Although most of the attention was on Fujiki Naohito, my eyes were set on Kashiwabara. All the rivalries, conflict and confrontation adds into the excitement of this drama.

This was a dark novel adaption into live version. Yes, the story was too depressing and sometimes goes beyond sanity. This is not a drama that many people appreciates because of the depressing mood in this drama.

Honey and Clover was a 2008 production that received good viewership in japan and Southeast Asia. Kassy came back to the small screen finally!

Kassy looked much more matured with a new sophisticated image. His little goatee and spectacles enhanced his intellectual look.

No Tsuki was a 2006 production. It was a sad love story that clinches your heart with its story line.

Kassy acted as a priest in Gotaisetsu. It was considered a low budget and a low profile movie that was shown in 2008. It is not a commercial movie given the sensitive story line.

Celeb to bimbo taro is a funny drama that is not to be taken seriously. Kassy acted as the rich villain that sabotage the main characters. Yes, once again Kassy acted as a charming jerk.

In 2011, Kassy returned to the Jdorama in a TV movie - Shikei Kijun. This was a bigger role than control Hanzai Shinri Sousa. After this drama, Kassy have subsequently went missing for a while which was quite disappointing.

This movie was a partnership with a foreign production. It was not a high profile movie and Kassy did not have a significant role in this production. Despite that, we can still see Kassy appearance in a minor role. I hope Kassy will act in better production in the future.

Other than acting, Takashi Kashiwabara formed a band When he was in his early twenties. He set up a Japanese rock band - Nowhere with his younger brother. Their music was not well received in Japan but surprising they make headlines in Asia. Kassy ( the affectionate nickname known by his fans) was the vocalist and his brother was the guitarist. Nowhere was  disbanded after a few released.
