Filming Black & White film sequel continues as planned without Vic Zhou

The production for the movie sequel of hit Taiwanese drama series, Black & White, is stuck in its own development hell.

Ever since the nomination list for the Taiwan Golden Bell Awards was released, rumours on the discord between the two lead actors Vic Zhou and Mark Chao have been spreading like wildfire.

After the Golden Bell Awards, Vic reportedly requested to have a look at the film script. However, director Tsai Yueh Hsun’s company wanted the actor to readjust his work schedule instead, causing things to reach a standstill.

On various occasions, director Tsai openly expressed his plans to wait for Vic despite the latter’s busy schedule. Mark had also openly declare that he will not take on the movie if Vic is not starring in it. However, production has to start by April 2010 as investors are panning for a Christmas release next year.

In a meeting two days ago, Tsai finally cleared the air on Vic’s participation in the movie. The producer, Yu Xiao Hui, shared that the fifth version of the altered script still includes Vic’s character, however, Vic’s busy schedule and non-commitment to the movie is causing much headache to the team.

Tsai jokingly commented, “As to how we should resolve this problem, I welcome everyone to send in their scripts.”

A representative from Tsai’s company expressed that they might have to strike off Vic’s role in the show “because there can never be another Chen Zai Tian (Vic’s character in the series).”

While Vic is currently in Taipei filming his upcoming movie, Ai Ni Yi Wan Nian, his manager commented on the decision made by Tsai and said, “Didn’t they say that they would not shoot without Vic?”

“I respect the decision made by director Tsai and I can only say that it is a pity.”

Takaso gets 2-year suspended sentence

Yuichi Takaso (41), the husband of actress Noriko Sakai (38), received his sentence on Friday at the Tokyo District Court. Found guilty of multiple counts of drug possession and use, he was given a 2-year prison sentence, suspended for 4 years.

Sakai received her own sentence a couple weeks ago - 18 months, suspended for 3 years. In Takaso's case, prosecutors had sought a longer sentence for reasons such as his heavier drug use and a larger amount of drugs found in his possession. Given that Takaso was the one obtaining the drugs, prosecutors also argued that the probability of a repeat offense is high.

The relationship between Angela Zhang and her parents is still salvageable

Plagued with ongoing rumours of familial discord, Angela Chang admits that they still needs time to settle their issues with each other

In an interview with Taiwanese actress-singer Angela Chang, commented on her ongoing family fight, “Regardless of what happens, these things should be handled personally by me. It does not really affect my work.”

Angela’s management company decided to halt promotional activities for her latest and sixth music album, Fifth Season, after the discord between the singer and her parents grew out of control. The 27-year-old was accused by her parents for abandoning them, and Angela once public said that the relationship between mother and daughter have reached ‘the end’.

“It needs time. There is a need to communicate properly during this period of time. Perhaps it wasn’t done well in the past. However no matter what happens, I should still try and attempt to handle it.”
When the singer was probed further about salvaging her relationship with her parents, she said, “I prefer to handle it myself. I would rather not talk about this part.”

“I have always placed emphasis on my family. My family is very important.”

The Taiwanese pop singer migrated to Canada when she was 12 years old. She bore the burden of supporting her family after her father was diagnosed with a heart problem when she turned 15 and took on two jobs washing cars and delivering lunchboxes.

She returned to Taiwan when she was 16 year old and began to focus her sights on the music industry. Looking back on her past 10 years in showbiz, she poignantly said, “In the process of singing, I gained a lot and lost equally as much. I lost my freedom and my private matters are under public scrutiny.”

“Many things happen in life. Despite of how much I’ve experienced, the most important is to be supported by your family and friends. They will always be protective of you all the time, even in your setbacks.”

The petite singer shared on her siblings’ opinion of her, “If they love me, they will support me in the things I do, in the things I love. Despite of the choice I make, they will always be supportive of me.”

“I am thankful to my brother and sister for accompanying me. Their mobility has allowed me to feel their warmth… After going through so much, the ones who have been with you at the end of things are the ones who love you and are most supportive of you. It is very hard to meet family members who are devoted to you.”

After resting for a period of time, the rejuvenated idol expressed, “I am very happy to have time to rest and recuperate. There is new meaning in my life. After resting, I feel rejuvenated.”

It has been two years since she last set foot onto Singapore and the Taiwanese pop singer reminisced about her younger times spent here

Taiwanese pop singer Angela Chang recently visited Singapore after a two-year window period to promote her latest and sixth music album, Fifth Season. After she was diagnosed with a heart problem, mitral valve prolapse, in March last year, the petite performer also has to deal with an ongoing domestic strife between her parents and her.

At the press conference for her music album, the 27-year-old performer seemed to have grown from her recent experiences and appeared more mature than usual. Unable to contain her excitement on performing in Singapore again, she said, “I used to stay here for awhile when I was younger. Thus, I am a little familiar with Singapore.”

The songstress shared that she and her family came to Singapore to learn English during her Primary School years. Viewing the sights of Singapore while sitting in a public bus would be one of her most memorable experiences on this little island.

Unlike the past where her mother would handle her earnings for her, Angela revealed that she has opened her own personal bank account and is currently learning how to handle her own finances. Her eyes glistened with excitement when reporters asked if she was interested in investing in a Singapore property. “If there is a chance, it would be quite interesting.”

After going on hiatus for one year and nine months, the sweet lass commented on her return to the music industry, “The new album is like a growing up process. This album feels closest to heart and I have tried a new music style and image. You’ll see a different Angela.”

DaS lowest times : no will to eat

No fate knowing people outside the entertainment industry

About love, DaS past lover were all from the enteertainment industry, about that fact, she came to the conclusion that the people she knows is a very restricted circle, apart from her work and her family, she has no way to meet people out of those two areas She joked " People often ask me if I like to date co workers ? Conflict Between Jerry Yan and Vic Chou Complicates F4 Reunion Efforts

While members of legendary Taiwanese boy band F4 (JVKV) have been pursuing solo activities for several years, appeals for the group to reunite still remain prevalent. With news of Jiangsu Satellite TV inviting F4 to perform for their New Year’s Eve Concert spreading like wildfire, discussions are heating up once again.

In addition to the New Year’s Eve festivities, there have been rumors of the group reuniting for next year’s Spring Festival evening festivities. As of now, some members of the group have responded to such an invitation, but some have yet to reply back. Furthermore, since the schedule of the invitation has yet been set, chances appear slim of it occurring. There are currently problems with F4 getting back together to perform, as it appears that such a reunion trip may rest on Jerry Yan’s schedule at the moment. However, informed sources have recently conveyed hidden reasons in the difficulties in an F4 reunion.

It has been reported that an F4 reunion is the one trump card for the New Year’s Eve event, and the newest developments regarding the invitation for F4 to participate has remained tightlipped with the organizers, whom have stated that “they are still striving for it, but it is still difficult to determine F4’s schedule.” Yet, informed sources have reported that the statement provided by the organizers served only as pretext to the real reason, which is that Jerry Yan and Vic Chou no longer wish to perform on the same stage.

Contrary to what has been observed at the various events attended by F4 in recent years, the state of the group has often been one where not all members have been fully committed in participating, including news of Jerry Yan and Vic Chou’s slim changes of sharing the same stage.

Despite the fact that the four members of F4 have often demonstrated public displays of solidarity, the vast differences between what is publicly displayed and what actually occurs between the members are often heard in the news. One case involved Jerry Yan’s unwillingness to compromise on the release of CDs and DVDs from their 2006 concert in Hong Kong, which led to the loss of tens of millions of Taiwanese dollars in royalties. In another case when F4 was invited to go to Japan, the group arrived to the airport in separate cars, and then deliberately went into the same car afterwards.

While an F4 reunion is wished upon by many viewers, such a possibility has been complicated with the four members belonging to different management. It took three years to organize the four members’ schedules to sync for their 2008 concert in Japan, so while organizers are working hard to get F4 to participate in the New Year’s Eve festivities in good faith, time constraints may diminish the success of such participation.

When a reporter contacted a representative of the group organization, the representative did not deny a statement in regards Jerry Yan and Vic Chou making it difficult for F4 to reunite. He only expressed that while the organization has not received a clear response from F4, both sides are actively working hard at it, and are still seeking ways to further communications.

Unfortunately for Eun Jae, her pregnancy is short-lived, ending in a tragic miscarriage. It will take a long time time until Eun Jae becomes pregnant again in the show, but that too ends in a miscarriage.

During the time when Eun Jae finds out about her 2nd pregnancy, her best friend since high school, Ae Ri returns from France. Ae Ri was an orphan who stayed with Eun Jae's family. She was also the ex-girlfriend of Eun Jae’s brother Kang Jae. This causes Gyo Bin and his mother to force Eun Jae to sign for a divorce. Eun Jae refuses to sign the papers, thinking that her unborn child will be able to salvage the marriage. Her mother-in-law, upset that Eun Jae would not sign the divorce papers and already favoring Ae Ri, makes life miserable for Eun Jae.

Feeling threatened that Gyo Bin is wavering because of his unborn child in Eun Jae, Ae Ri convinces him to get Eun Jae to get an abortion. The 3 of them have this discussion by the sea. Gyo bin attempts to drown Eun Jae by dragging her out to sea, threatening her that he will kill her if she does not agree to the abortion and divorce. Gyo Bin throws her necklace, given by her father-in-law as a promise not to give up on Gyo Bin into the sea. In an attempt to retrieve the necklace, Gyo Bin abandons Eun Jae at sea, leaving her to drown and eventually die.

Believing that Eun Jae drowned, Ae Ri and Gyo Bin decide to keep this matter a secret, lying that Eun Jae had committed suicide. After the divorce is finalized, Gyo Bin and Ae Ri get married, while Eun Jae survives and moves to an island to get away from it all.

Eun Jae survived and was washed ashore on to an island which Gun Woo, the adoptive son of Lady Min happened to be near the island searching for his missing sister. He finds Eun Jae unconscious and takes her to the doctor. When she gains consciousness, she finds out she had another miscarriage and is very upset.

Having heard about Eun Jae's plight, Lady Min brings Eun Jae into her home as her experience was similar. Soon, in order to seek revenge, Eun Jae takes the identity of Lady Min's presumably dead daughter, So Hee. As the story progresses, and Eun Jae intent on her revenge, she and Gun woo and Eun jae eventually fall in love.

Putting her plan in to action, Eun Jae seduces Gyo Bin and is successful. As "So Hee" and Gyo-bin "fall in love", Ae Ri gets suspicious of "So Hee". To confirm her suspicions that "So Hee" is indeed Eun Jae, she tests "Soo Hee". Ae Ri is positively sure that this "So Hee" is indeed the supposedly downed Eun Jae. But Eun Jae feigns innocence and insists that Ae Ri is crazy. Not wanting to lose Gyo Bin to another woman, Ae Ri keeps going to Lady Min's house and makes a scene.

Gyo Bin disgusted by Ae Ri's behavior and eager to marry "So Hee". So he divorces Ae Ri and marries "So Hee". After the divorce has been finalized, Gyo-bin kicks Ae ri out of his house, but keeps Nino. Nino upset that his mother left on account of "Soo Hee" is rude to her, the situation is made worse with Ae Ri telling Nino that "So Hee" is bad. But Ae Ri still does not give up, instead she gets even more suspicous when she sees "So Hee" and Gun woo embrace, she calls to tell Gyo Bin.

When confronted, "So Hee" kisses Gyo bin, ensuring him that Gun woo and her are just close siblings. Gyo-bin wants to consummate the marriage with "So Hee", but she avoids it by buying twin beds instead of one big bed, settling the problem. Meanwhile, Ae Ri begs Gyo-bin and his family to give her custody of her son.

In the end, Ae Ri gets Nino, but Nino gets injured. Ae Ri pities for her son, as she was poor and could not to afford to get him anything he wanted.

The real So Hee comes back, and suffers from serious depression. She gets mad at Eun Jae because Gun woo fell in love with her. She gets even more angry when she finds out that they are planning to get married. So Hee crashes the wedding.

One day, when Eun Jae went to work and while everyone was praising her make-up artist skills, the real So Hee, shows up and tells all the workers that she is the real daughter of Lady Min, proclaiming herself the owner of Min Beauty Shop. Ae Ri witnesses this and asks So Hee to cooperate with her to ruin Eun Jae's life. However, their partnership soon this partnership ends.

Lady Min had a history with Gyo Bin's father, Jung Ha Jo. They even had a child together (they were not married at the time), named Byul (meaning Star.) Ha Jo supposedly killed Star and Lady Min's father, and stole a land deed that made him rich to this day. In a turn of events, Lady Min has the upper hand and is able to get revenge by demanding that Ha Jo give up all his assets (including Chunji Constructions) and selling his house.

Feeling guilty and not wanting Lady Min to find out that their daughter is still alive, Ha Jo does as Lady Min requests. As a result, Eun Jae's family stays in the house Ha Jo and family used to stay. So Hee persuades her mother to get Gun Woo to marry her. So Hee is Lady Min's real daughter and Gun Woo was adopted. Feeling bad for her daughter, Lady Min tells Gun Woo that he had two choices: marry So Hee and Eun Jae's alliance will be better than ever, or marry Eun Jae and Lady Min will never talk to Gun Woo or Eun Jae again.

In order to make Eun Jae's life better, Gun Woo marries So Hee thinking that her depression would get better, and that she would treat Eun Jae better. Instead, So Hee does the complete opposite. One day, Gun Woo went to work to sign a contract with Harrison. Ae ri wants to be back with Gyo bin, so she told Gyo-Bin to sign the contract.

Meanwhile, So Hee ruins Eun Jae's artwork and rips a page out. While they fight, Ae Ri calls Gun Woo and informs him about how Eun Jae is getting bullied by So Hee. Gun Woo turns the car and drives straight to the Beauty Shop. He sees So Hee ripping the page and tells her that he wil divorce her. As a result, Gun Woo is late for his meeting, so Ha Jo tells Gyo Bin to sign the contract instead.

Since the incident, Gun Woo is determined to divorce So Hee. Ae Ri comes back to Gyo Bin's family and gets pregnant. During her pregnancy, she finds our that she has an advanced stage of stomach cancer. Doctors tell her to get an abortion so she can have the cancer surgery, but she refuses, thinking that the baby is the only way to keep Gyo Bin and her together.

Ae Ri and Eun Jae join a make up competition that has three stages. The first stage has Ae Ri, another lady, and Eun Jae competing. In the second stage, Ae Ri and Eun Jae and would be competing against each other. And finally in the third stage, Ae ri gets so desperate that she bribes the judges. The competition has different judges for each stage. Ae Ri sabotages Eun Jae by getting her another model, who is allergic to natural make-up, which was about this competition. The judges ask Eun Jae why she kept erasing the model's make-up and Eun Jae tells about the model's allergy. She covered the rash with her concealer. The judges proclaim Ae Ri as the grand prize winner.

Fortunately, the judges find out in time that Ae Ri had bribed the judges, so the winner was Eun Jae. Despite Ae Ri has having miscarriage, she and Eun Jae reconcile and became true friends again. Eun Jae tries to persuade Ae Ri to get the cancer treatment surgery, but Ae Ri is scared that she will die.

Finally in the last episode, Hanuel (who is the real, living Star) gets married to Eun Jae's brother and becomes pregnant. Ae Ri and Gyo Bin go on a vacaton. During this vacation, Ae Ri made a sea shell necklace for Nino, ans she pens two letters: one for Gyo-bin and one for Eun Jae.

After writing the letters, Ae Ri attempts suicide. Gyo-Bin discovers her and tries to save her. Ae ri was screams at him to let go because he needed to take care of Nino and that she was going to die anyway. However, he said he that he was not going to let go and he was going to save her. In the end, the couple down.

Eun Jae gives Nino the sea shell necklace that Ae Ri made for him, saying "This is the last present your mother is giving you."During their funeral, Nino almost has a car accident, but he insists that his mother and father was on the other side of the street. Everybody assumed that they were protecting their son from danger. Ae Ri's letter to Eun Jae said to bury her ashes on the beach where Eun Jae almost died.

So Hee and her mother decide to go to America together. Lady Min gives Ha Jo the papers to own Chunji Constructions again. Gun Woo meets Eun Jae while she was spreading the ashes. He apologizes for hurting her feelings and promises that he will not do it again. He wants Eun Jae to be his wife again. So hee gave Eun Jae two rings with a note saying "I broke you two up. Here's the chance to get back together again." Gun Woo puts his arm around Eun Jae and looks at the sky with her. They were positive that they saw Ae Ri and Gyo-Bin together. The whole drama ends by having the two couples smiling at each other, with Ae Ri and Gyo-Bin in white, looking back at their friends.

No easy time for actors playing villains in Korean drama Cruel Temptation

BADDIES had a hard time in the Korean drama Cruel Temptation.Not only did they have to memorise difficult lines, they had to cry buckets too. And that's before they got dunked into icy waters.

Actor Byun Woo Min, 44, is the cheating husband who tries to kill his wife, played by Jang Seo Hee. His partner-in-crime is his onscreen lover, played by Kim Seo Hyung, 33.

When U-Weekly met up with Woo Min and Seo Hyung in Seoul last month, both said their roles as indecent lovers were very challenging.

Woo Min said: 'There's lots of yelling and quarrelling in the show.'

He added that they had a hectic filming schedule - six days of shooting per week for this 129-episode series - but watching the drama would be a breeze.

'It has a fast-paced storyline. So it's like watching a movie.'

Strange as it may sound, their characters cry a lot in the drama, although they are the ones hurting people around them.

Said Woo Min: 'I had to wail three times in one scene. That's really draining.'

Seo Hyung agreed: 'It's very taxing, both physically and emotionally, to act as an evil person.'

Both agreed they couldn't learn how to be a crook from each other because they are nice people, really.

But they still managed to help each other understand their roles better, and became as close as siblings during filming.

Physically demanding

The drama's ending was the most physically demanding scene, where Woo Min's and Seo Hyung's characters go out to the sea.

'The water temperature was only 13 deg C. And we had to shoot the fighting scene in the icy waters for six hours,' said Woo Min.

Be sure not to miss the twist at the end, said Seo Hyung. 'Although my character starts out as a baddie, she becomes a nice person eventually.

'That's the ending the scriptwriter promised me, and the audiences must not miss it,' she added with a laugh.

Still, filming was tough. When shooting wrapped for Cruel Temptation, Seo Hyung took a break from work for three months.

Don't mistake her as a drama novice though.

She entered showbiz in 1994 and played Sunshine Ha in the 2005 Korean hit drama Be Strong, Geum Soon!.

Woo Min - who appeared in the Korean film Wedding Story and the drama Jazz - will be in town this Wednesday to promote Cruel Temptation, which ended its run in Korea in May.

It premieres over Channel U on 19 Nov at 7pm.

"Boys over Flowers" nominated for Asian TV Awards

KBS2 TV's drama "Boys Over Flowers" and comedy show "Gag Concert" have been nominated for the 2009 Asian TV Awards, according to a press release on Monday.

Korea's major broadcaster KBS explained that "Boys" scored a nomination in the TV Drama category and "Gag" in the comedy section. Korean actor Lee Min-ho and actress Koo Hye-sun, the hero and heroine of "Boys", are both nominees for the Best Actor and Best Actress award, respectively.

"Asian TV Awards", hosted by Singapore's media magazine Television Asian and sponsored by Singapore Media Development Authority, is considered Asia's equivalent of the Emmys.

The event selects the best television programs that aired in the region including Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, India, Australia and New Zealand. Over 1,000 television programs were submitted in 33 categories this year.

The winners of the 14th Asian Television Awards will be announced at the ATA 2009 Gala Dinner in Singapore on December 3.

Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. 2012 is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.

Ok, so some people liked it and others didn't. Like any other disaster movie, people die and some or majority of the main cast survive. The storyline was what kept the movie going, although the begging was kind of draggy and transition from 2009 to 2012 a little too fast to know what was really going on.

The bottom line of the story is that humans are a selfish bunch, one way or the other only the rich and powerful are entitled to survival in the movie, those who don't make the cut have a difficult time. It is the ugly fact of the world we live in today. But the effects overall was awesome!

The Wallflower Manga Gets January TV Drama Green-Lit

This year's 18th issue of Kodansha' Bessatsu Friend magazine has announced on Friday that a television drama series based on Tomoko Hayakawa's The Wallflower (Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge) manga has been green-lit for a January premiere. The story follows four teenaged "pretty boys" who are invited to stay at a posh mansion, free of charge—provided they can transform the owner's standoffish, weird niece into a proper young lady. More details about the drama version will be published in future issues of Bessatsu Friend.

The manga has been running in Bessatsu Friend since 2000, and 24 compiled book volumes have been published so far. Del Rey will publish the 22nd volume in North America next January. The story has already been adapted into a 2006-2007 25-episode television anime series, which ADV Films released on DVD.

Wu Chun’s Transition from Heartthrob to…Menancing Pirate?

Known more for his part in popular boy band Fahrenheit and in his roles as the quiet and serious heartthrob in idol dramas, Taiwanese singer and actor Wu Chun has been keeping busy with his upcoming role in the martial arts flick “14 Blades”. The Hong Kong-based production marks only his second entry onto the widescreen for Wu Chun, as he has also starred in last year’s tragic love story “Butterfly Lovers”.

Despite Wu Chun’s previous experience in the ancient Chinese period piece from that 2008 movie, Wu Chun’s new acting gig still puts him outside the confines of the safety and familiar territories of idol dramas and into a high-intensity martial arts setting. Furthermore, with Wu Chun’s entertainment debut originating in pop music, it will be interesting to see if he can keep up with the acting chops of established co-stars Donnie Yen, Vicki Zhao, and Sammo Hung. Whether he breaks the mold and becomes a competent actor like Leehom Wang, or fails to break the typecast roles that plague Jay Chou, remains to be seen.

It will also be intriguing to see how Wu Chun especially overcomes his new role as a villain this time around, but judging by the recently released promotional photos of him donning pirate gear, he’s got his work cut out for him already.

Show Luo Frightened by Crazed Fans on Train

Hong Kong director Jingle Ma's movie "Mulan" will join in the year-end battle at the Chinese box office.

The historical epic is set for release across China on November 27, sina.com reports.
